Hilburn Turf and Ornamental

Buyer beware. Hilburn Turf offers very competitive prices and totally inferior work. They are competent with general landscaping cleanup, but are sub-par when it comes to installing trees, irrigation, and especially incompetent regarding hardscape. The owner of Hilburn Turf did not properly understand the requirements of my job when he proposed the installation of a dry creek bed for me. Although it was very obvious that the bed would carry a lot of storm water when it rained, he did not prepare for that. As a result, the small rocks he used didn't hold, and it created a mess. His attempts to "fix" the problem were even worse. His patches included using different colors of concrete to hold the rocks in place. (it didn't). I now have a ditch that runs alongside the creek bed because the water now runs out of the creek bed since the stones have moved and created little dams. I don't think he had the expertise to even know how to fix the problem and wasn't willing to do any more. His attitude was "you can't be pleased." My yard looks worse than when he started. I had two additional problems with Hilburn related to the installation of evergreen trees. I asked if the soil would be amended when the trees were planted. He said yes. He lied. Then, a leak developed in the irrigation system which he installed around the trees. I called him several times and asked him to come and look. He dismissed me; never came to look at the irrigation; and I ended up having to hire another company to fix the irrigation system as well as a different company to fix the mess he created with my creek bed.This is the worst experience I have had with a landscape company in the 25+ years I have lived in Atlanta! He provided totally inferior work and was dismissive of my dissatisfaction. Other professionals have been shocked that he would leave me with such a mess.
