Overall, we are very happy with the work East Cobb Best delivered and would not hesitate to hire to do more work in the future. We especially loved Mary! She made the final days of the project... including calling an all hands on during the last 2 days- we were expecting of town guests on day of completion and the project was completed as promised.
I would especially like to say that Lee, Chuck and Mary and Tom (owner) were especially nice to deal with. Prices were fair and the communication between us was just plain fantastic. Project was finished on time and on budget. This is for sure a turn key operation when you hire this company. You can trust them in your house, and all the subs did outstanding work too, and they did not leave the job until I was completely satisfied with all final touch up items.
I will for sure use them for my bathroom remodel coming soon and as a Realtor, i will recommend them to as a professional firm that does the job right the first time for their clients. BRAVO.... TOM, AND CREW A++++++
The project manager, Chuck, was very responsive, listened and kept me informed. Lee and Red are excellent carpenters. Mary and her crew did a great job as well.
I added a couple of built in shelf areas and some lights but overall it added less than $2K to the final bill and was well worth it.
I got 5 bids before selecting a contractor. Two of the bids were $10K more without justification. Two of the bids were several thousand less but the contracts did not contain everything i asked for so i knew there would be a problem down the road. I could see that the contractors had cut corners to keep the price low.
- Crew was focused and worked diligently throughout their shift
- some work was subbed out
- majority of the standard carpentry was good
- more detail carpentry was fair to having to re-due the work
- Builder was reluctant to make suggestions or volunteer ideas
- most of the touch-up work was left to a semi-skilled worker
This remodel was a wonderful experience. Tom Walsh and his sister Mary and all the crew were wonderful. They even have decorator to help me pick out tile, granite, colors, etc. Everyone who walked in my house was professional, polite, friendly and hard workers. The cost was very competitive . I highly recommend them and will be using them in the near future. They can also do handy man stuff too. Not just large remodels.
- A lot of people worked on this project. Overall, they are great at what they do. There are hiccups that come with any remodeling project, and we had not planned to have to sister the joists in my family room in order to do a bathroom remodel upstairs. However, when the work on the ceiling and the bathroom floor above was done, it felt like a different house-- much safer. Because of the joist work, plumbing had to be replaced and the ceiling replaced. It turned into a much bigger job! The bookcases in my family room look like they have always been there, and they are stunning. Same with the master bath-- it is a joy to get ready in the morning and relax in the evening in that spa-like atmosphere. The great strengths of this company are their cabinetry work and their tile work. You will love your room when it is finished! Another great strength is that Thomas, the owner, is an excellent communicator. He is really Johnny-on-the-spot if you need help with a problem on a project. He does his very best to make sure you are satisfied up until the very last part of the project. I had to keep after him a bit at the end to send me the final invoice; he was in no hurry to take my money, and his prices were fair.
The good: Price was very reasonable. The quality of work was very high. Team members were all good to work with, many of the leads being family members of Tom, who owns the business. Never once was I concerned about leaving people with access to my house. Additionally, they were willing to flex the plan when my wife and I decided we wanted something different than what was originally discussed. We hired our own HVAC/Pumbers due to a good financing option we stumbled onto. No issues. Another example is the cabinets behind the back bar. We had agreed to an original budget for the cabinets of $1500, but when my wife and I chose cabinets that cost $2600, Tom didn't bat an eye and just said that we'd settle up at the end of the job.
The bad: My only real complaint would be that the job took a fair amount longer to complete than originally estimated. Tom had originally told me this felt like about a 10 week effort. It ended up being 16 or 17 weeks total. Thankfully this was space that we were not dependent on for our daily lives. The delays, however, were often the result of difficult county inspectors who would pop up new requirement on us every time they came for the "final inspection". I think if this had been a kitchen or master bathroom remodel I would have likely complained louder and Tom would have made things happen quicker. The delay was nothing more than a slight annoyance, however, and overall we're very pleased with the results! I would rather have quality than blazing speed any day, and that is exactly what we got with this crew.
Highly recommended and will likely hire them again next year to hang dry wall and drop ceiling in my unfinished garage.
To get us started Tom put us in touch with Elizabeth, of Robinson Interiors, who was wonderful in helping us choose paint, tile and granite for our master bath. She has a gift of design and a head for staying within a budget. By the time we were ready with our selections, Tom's crew was here to tear out the old in preparation for the new. They did a good job of sealing off the rest of our home to minimize the effects of living through construction.
The next few weeks were a flurry of activity. Lee's carpentry skills and experience gave us confidence that the structural work was correct. Red and his crew gave us a beautiful rail over post staircase and Mary, Alex and Raul expertly laid the tile and painted. There were many others involved in the project, from plumbers to electricians, etc.. I greatly appreciate each of their contributions.
We were told the project would take 4 to 5 weeks and, thankfully, they were able to keep to that schedule so we had time to get the carpet installed before our company arrived for the Christmas holidays. It was so nice to be able to get all the family together in one large room and enjoy the beauty of the work done by East Cobb's Best.
