This was our second experience with ECBR, the first having been our Master Bath renovation. We wanted to open up our kitchen to be better integrated with our great room. Our home has several “angels” and required new LVL beams to be installed with columns at the corner points. ECBR brought in a structural engineer to spec the scope and executed the plan without a hiccup. This project touched on many areas of expertise - structural changes, new columns and framing, sheet rock, plumbing, electrical, hardwood flooring - ECBR handled every surprise this project threw at them with ease. My kitchen, the nucleus of any family, is now a showcase feature of our home. I am working on drawings for our NEXT project with ECBR!

These folks are a family-owned business, local to the area, and very invested in customer satisfaction. They were easy to work with, did quality work, and had a sense of urgency and commitment to get the job finished so we could get our bathroom back quickly! They helped us evaluate cost/benefit of various options and brought decades of experience to the table. Our master bathroom is now a showcase room - the envy of our neighborhood! Last but not least, one important reason I love them is that I trust their crew in my home - whether I’m home or not - which relieved a lot of anxiety about the remodeling process. HIGHLY recommend!!

We were very pleased with Tom and his team. The team is  super friendly and professional. The work was completed in a timely manner and the mess was certainly minimized as best it could be during the 6 week construction period. The team worked quickly to fully gut our lower 1/2 of the house into a new, top of the line kitchen remodel. They started by doing 2 in home consultations to completely define the scope of the work. They were honest about what they could and could not deliver. They recommended different vendors and we were able to pick which vendor we wanted to work with for materials. The team was very courteous and reported for the work as promised and on time.
Our total scope of work included: total demolition of approximately 750 square feet, re location of plumbing from back wall to middle of room, replacement of beams to raise opening sto create a more open concept feel, relocation of pantry, all appliance installation, painting and crown molding work, and flooring installation.
Overall, we are very happy with the work East Cobb Best delivered and would not hesitate to hire to do more work in the future. We especially loved Mary! She made the final days of the project... including calling an all hands on during the last 2 days- we were expecting of town guests on day of completion and the project was completed as promised.

Tom and crew did an outstanding job. Its just a shame there is not a rating above A+  I would highly recommend them to anyone who is nervous as I was to hire a contractor. This is a family run business and is professional, on time, and real craftspeople.
I would especially like to say that Lee, Chuck and Mary and Tom (owner) were especially nice to deal with. Prices were fair and the communication between us was just plain fantastic.   Project was finished on time and on budget.  This is for sure a turn key operation when you hire this company. You can trust them in your house, and all the subs did outstanding work too, and they did not leave the job until I was completely satisfied with all final touch up items.
I will for sure use them for my bathroom remodel coming soon and as a Realtor, i will recommend them to as a professional firm that does the job right the first time for their clients.   BRAVO.... TOM, AND CREW A++++++

Tom and his crew are very professional and the quality of the work is great. The bid included all the details that I identified during the initial walk through. This included removing part of the wall going down to the basement, installing a beam to open up the living room/dining room/ kitchen to be one large room plus a particular tile floor that I had already selected.
The project manager, Chuck, was very responsive, listened and kept me informed.  Lee and Red are excellent carpenters.  Mary and her crew did a great job as well.
I added a couple of built in shelf areas and some lights but overall it  added less than $2K to the final bill and was well worth it.
I got 5 bids before selecting a contractor.  Two of the bids were $10K more without justification.  Two of the bids were several thousand  less but the contracts did not contain everything i asked for so i knew there would be a problem down the road. I could see that the contractors had cut corners to keep the price low.

  • Crew was focused and worked diligently throughout their shift
  • some work was subbed out
  • majority of the standard carpentry was good
  • more detail carpentry was fair to having to re-due the work
  • Builder was reluctant to make suggestions or volunteer ideas
  • most of the touch-up work was left to a semi-skilled worker

This remodel was a wonderful experience.  Tom Walsh and his sister Mary and all the crew were wonderful.  They even have  decorator to help me pick out tile, granite, colors, etc.    Everyone who walked in my house was professional, polite, friendly and hard workers.  The cost was very competitive .  I highly recommend them and will be using them in the near future.  They can also do handy man stuff too.  Not just large remodels.

  • A lot of people worked on this project. Overall, they are great at what they do. There are hiccups that come with any remodeling project, and we had not planned to have to sister the joists in my family room in order to do a bathroom remodel upstairs. However, when the work on the ceiling and the bathroom floor above was done, it felt like a different house-- much safer. Because of the joist work, plumbing had to be replaced and the ceiling replaced. It turned into a much bigger job!  The bookcases in my family room look like they have always been there, and they are stunning. Same with the master bath-- it is a joy to get ready in the morning and relax in the evening in that spa-like atmosphere. The great strengths of this company are their cabinetry work and their tile work. You will love your room when it is finished! Another great strength is that Thomas, the owner, is an excellent communicator. He is really Johnny-on-the-spot if you need help with a problem on a project. He does his very best to make sure you are satisfied up until the very last part of the project. I had to keep after him a bit at the end to send me the final invoice; he was in no hurry to take my money, and his prices were fair.

Tom Walsh and his team were a true pleasure to work with. They helped us come up with a floor plan, bringing in a designer to draw it all up at our request (and for a very reasonable price.) From the moment the project started I was impressed with their level of professionalism and commitment to making me happy. Additionally, they insisted that we have all appropriate documentation in place as well, including an engineering letter for the 15 feet of load bearing wall we took out and all appropriate permits and inspections. We did this by the book and I'm glad. It was a hassle dealing with the county inspectors sometimes, but it was also the right thing to do.

The good: Price was very reasonable. The quality of work was very high. Team members were all good to work with, many of the leads being family members of Tom, who owns the business. Never once was I concerned about leaving people with access to my house. Additionally, they were willing to flex the plan when my wife and I decided we wanted something different than what was originally discussed. We hired our own HVAC/Pumbers due to a good financing option we stumbled onto. No issues. Another example is the cabinets behind the back bar. We had agreed to an original budget for the cabinets of $1500, but when my wife and I chose cabinets that cost $2600, Tom didn't bat an eye and just said that we'd settle up at the end of the job.

The bad: My only real complaint would be that the job took a fair amount longer to complete than originally estimated. Tom had originally told me this felt like about a 10 week effort. It ended up being 16 or 17 weeks total. Thankfully this was space that we were not dependent on for our daily lives. The delays, however, were often the result of difficult county inspectors who would pop up new requirement on us every time they came for the "final inspection". I think if this had been a kitchen or master bathroom remodel I would have likely complained louder and Tom would have made things happen quicker. The delay was nothing more than a slight annoyance, however, and overall we're very pleased with the results! I would rather have quality than blazing speed any day, and that is exactly what we got with this crew.

Highly recommended and will likely hire them again next year to hang dry wall and drop ceiling in my unfinished garage.

I have to admit, I was a little worried when we didn't hear from Tom right away after accepting his estimate.  I wasn't sure if he wanted the job, but was quickly assured that he was trying to get us an accurate start date.  He and his crew are in high demand, for good reason, and are worth waiting for!
To get us started Tom put us in touch with Elizabeth, of Robinson Interiors, who was wonderful in helping us choose paint, tile and granite for our master bath.  She has a gift of design and a head for staying within a budget.  By the time we were ready with our selections, Tom's crew was here to tear out the old in preparation for the new.  They did a good job of sealing off the rest of our home to minimize the effects of living through construction.
The next few weeks were a flurry of activity.  Lee's carpentry skills and experience gave us confidence that the structural work was correct.  Red and his crew gave us a beautiful rail over post staircase and Mary, Alex and Raul expertly laid the tile and painted.  There were many others involved in the project, from plumbers to electricians, etc..  I greatly appreciate each of their contributions.
We were told the project would take 4 to 5 weeks and, thankfully, they were able to keep to that schedule so we had time to get the carpet installed before our company arrived for the Christmas holidays.  It was so nice to be able to get all the family together in one large room and enjoy the beauty of the work done by East Cobb's Best.

My wife and I chose to hire the services of Thomas Walsh and East Cobb's Best Remodeling shortly after moving into our home.  We couldnt have asked for better service and craftmenship, this company is the total package.  They provided quality work accompanied with proffessionalism.  Thomas was very honest and open to our ideas from the very beginning and helped us bring our ideal basement to life. He was very easy to communicate with and always responded  quickly to any questions or concerns that we had along the way.  Him and his crew more than exceeded our expectations and my wife and I would be more than happy to use them again and refer them to anyone that we know.
