My 100year old Herschede grandfather clock had stopped working. I made an appointment to have a service technician come to my home and evaluate the problem. Bob Bartow arrived on time examined the inner workings and concluded it needed lubrication and adjusting He explained everything he did and I learned quite a bit about my clock. He has a great deal of grandfather clock knowledge and professional skill. The work was done at the estimated price of $275. The clock now works perfectly..I recommend these professionals to anyone who has need of grandfather clock repair.. Peter Callahan

The technician evaluated all 3 clocks. One grandfather clock was installed, one grandfather evaluated & one wall clock taken to the shop for repairs. The cost was reasonable & ones that seemed high, the explanation was reasonable. Mr. Barrow was extremely knowledgeable & pleasant. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Clock Repair Service called the day before to confirm the appointment and then called again when the repairman was on his way. Bob was extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. He was very interested in educating me about proper care of the clocks. I would recommend them to anyone in need of service for their clocks, particularly ones that are family heirlooms (or will be one day). Bob also fixed an antique shelf clock that we had taken to another repair shop but was not working properly. They had given us no "after care" instructions in regards to leveling the clock once we got it home. It was running beautifully after a bit of an adjustment.

This was the most pleasant repair experience that I have ever had. Bob was on time, set up his shop covering his area with a pallet to protect the wood floors. Not only was he efficient, but he educated me on the clock, how to keep it set, including the moon dial, and not to use my bare hands on the brass weights and pendulum. This plus a lot more. He was personable and pleasant. He was considerate of my clock and handled it carefully but with experience. The price of the repair was more than fair. I will gladly recommend this company and call them when I am ready to repair any of my clocks.

Bob was wonderful. His knowledge and willingness to share information was great. I knew nothing about the clock I purchased almost 10 years ago except that it had started winding down completely in only 3 to 4 days. He worked on it six days ago and it is behaving now and still has yet to wind down completely. It is important to have the piece cleaned every few years and I will be calling them again. (At least I now know which weight goes in which position!) Thanks Bob!

Great company and service tech.  They picked up the clock mechanism and then delivered and set up when repairs completed.  Thrilled with the results.  This was not an easy task and they made it happen.

We had a grandfather clock with some issues and two other antique clocks that required basic cleaning and oiling.   The work was done on time, as estimated for cost, and we were advised that grandfather clock may need additional work.  We're still observing it - it's way better after basic maintenance and I will be happy to call for a house call to do a bit more work if needed.  He also gave us insight into the value of two of the clocks and details about their lineage.  Nice job.

I made an appointment with Clock Repair to have our grandfather clock serviced.  It was not working correctly after moving from another state.  An appointment was made for May 5th between 12 and 1 pm.  I received a call from the office on the 4th confirming my appointment and I received a call around 11:45 am on the 5th to alert me that the repairman was on his way.  Bob showed up around 12:15.  The experience could not have been better with this company.  Our clock did not need any major repairs, just some adjustments and an oiling.  Bob took the time to explain some things about the clock to me and to show me how to reset the chimes when they are not playing correctly.  He also told me what to look and listen for that would indicate when the insides will need to be rebuilt.  After adjusting and oiling the mechanics of the clock, Bob cleaned and polished the whole unit.  The reverence and respect with which our clock was treated was greatly appreciated.  The clock is happily chiming away as I type this.  Bob was wonderful.  I would highly recommend Clock Repair, especially if you have a clock that means a lot to your family.

Our grandfather clock stopped.  The last servicing was five years ago.  We always have it serviced on a regular basis.  This was the first time we used Clock Repair Service.  The choice was made based on the rating and reviews and the experience with the last local provider who when called showed a little too much attitude that we live in Ball Ground and that it was a long drive.  CRS was overall terrific.  I've never witnessed such a thorough tuneup of our 50 year old Ridgeway.  Besides the professional attitude and the obvious skill, we were treated to a running tutorial about our clock .  How to better maintain it, its history and projected servicing needs.  CRS is a first class organization.  The price is more than fair for the talent and results that they provide.

The first visit went very well. Bob came out, set up the clock and let me know what was broken and what needed to be done to fix it. Bob seems very knowledgeable about clocks and what needs to be done to properly maintain/repair them. I paid for the visit/repair parts and Bob was going to order the replacement parts and schedule a second appointment to install a new chime mechanism. However, I have tried to contact Bob multiple different ways (both via the posted phone number on the website and via email) with no response. I would not recommend using Clock Repair Service as my experience has been it is extremely difficult to get anyone to contact me regarding the work in process on my clock.
We contacted the clock repair man to do the repairs and when we had not heard back after 4 weeks we are told that they had no record of us calling back to tell them that we wanted to order the parts. Now that the parts have been ordered we waited a reasonable time for the parts to come in and then were told that the parts were on a boat that sunk and were reordered. So we are still waiting on the parts.
Response from Clock Repair Service
"Our company was contacted by [member name removed]. He set up an appointment to have us come out to set up and service his grandfather clock after it was moved to his new location. At some point of the move, a few of the chime rods had broken off and were in need of replacement. After we had cleaned and set up the clock as hired, we communicated with [member name removed] that we would look into finding him the replacement rods for his clock. We found a cheaper, lower quality chime rod set, from a supplier that we normally do not do business with; however we pride ourselves on the quality and service we provide and wanted to find an exact original set of chimes to keep the integrity of the grandfather clock. Finding the correct set took a few weeks but we finally found it. Our office had called the [member name removed] residence and talked to [member name removed]. The office manager told her that we had finally found the correct set. She quoted [member name removed] a cost of $140.00 for the technician to come back out to install the chime rod set. [member name removed] indicated that she would have to get back to us after she talked it over with her husband. We never heard back from either of them, therefore assuming they did not want the job completed. Unfortunately on many clocks, especially older ones that are no longer being made, parts are not readily available and we can’t just run down to the local hardware store for replacement parts. Things take time and we try our hardest to keep the integrity of every clock we repair."

My grandfather clock stopped working. The service rep came out and took the clock apart to look for worn out parts(the clock is about 40 years old).. He said that he thought that a good cleaning was all that would be needed. He did that and the clock has run well ever since.

One of the rods in my grandfather's clock was broken during our recent move. I called Clock Repair Service and talked to Bob. He was very knowledgeable. He ordered the part and then came to the house to service the clock and replace the rod assembly. I was very impressed with his knowledge of clocks and efficiency. I would highly recommend him for any clock repair you might need. I think his price was very reasonable, especially because he had to drive to my house to service my clock. I have never been to his shop, but I would imagine the prices would be very fair and reasonable as well.

Upon relocating to the area we need to find a clock repair due to the fact the moving company supplied us with a third party who uncrated our belongings. The organization that uncrated did a poor job of re-assembling the time pieces so rather than having them mess it up, I asked that he stop doing what he was doing. I told him I'd find a clock repair company and have it done right. I found Bob, through Angie's List. Placed a call. Within an hour Bob called back and we set up a time for him to come out. Bob called before the appointment insuring we were still needing service. Bob arrived at the scheduled time. The overall experience and cost I found to be a great value.

Contacted Bob at Clock Repair Service regarding a grandfather clock that was for sale. He was available at our convenience. The clock was beautifully maintained and in perfect condition. We purchased the clock, the company moved and set up the clock in a very professional manner being very careful not to damage it. Bob even came over and set up the clock making sure everything was cleaned and in good working order. He also answered any questions we had before he left. We highly recommend this company and will be using them again for the clock maintenance.
