On Thursday, my right rear tire popped. So early Friday morning I took my brand new Escape to Autonation Marietta to have the tire patched and or replaced. Though I had hoped I could simply get it patched the service manager told me the hole was to invasive to simply patch and the tire would need to be replaced. Quite frankly, I don't know if this is customary or not but I would rather be safe than sorry so I opted to get a new tire. To my surprise, the service department did not have tires on site for that vehicle, even though they have hundreds of 2014 Escapes on the lot. Nevertheless, per the service manager, it would take 90 minutes to pick up a tire at the warehouse.
After two hours passed and several other customers came and went. I asked one of the service personnel about the status of my vehicle. About five to ten minutes later, she told me the truck just got there with my tire and they would have it completed in short order. Suddenly, my car was pulled into the garage and pulled up. But it would take another twenty minutes before the mechanic approached the SUV again to change the tire. At 10:30 AM approximately three hours after I arrived, my spare tire was changed.
My impressions are that my vehicle got lost in the mix and was forgotten about. Had I not said anything, I probably would have waited a lot longer. In addition, the 2014 Escape has a recall on it which I would have thought the service department would initiate handling it immediately, but that recall was never mentioned to me at the time of service.
This location appears to be one where the customer will need to do their due diligence before going in. Some insight into the problem with your vehicle and persistence will result in action. Otherwise, I think the customer will be in for a long wait.
I would definitely go back there.
