I had 2 services completed by Nick and his crew. First was they rebuilt 2 of my front steps. I admit that I know absolutely nothing about masonry and told him that up front. I sought his advice on either just doing the 2 steps or, rebuilding the whole front porch. He gave me both options, but advised to only do the 2 steps as they were the only in the need of the repair. In today's economy to take the much lesser of 2 jobs I thought a testament to an honest man. The front steps look great.
The second was having my downstairs bathroom shower rebuilt. Again, I sought Nick's advice on either tiling or just putting up the plastic stuff to make it look decent. Again Nick gave me ideas on both options and even had pictures of his own work to show me for the project. We decided to do again the lesser of the 2 options, and they were happy to have to work. They had to pull out the old plastic on the walls, moved the shower head, installed new hardware and put in a new shower area. He came in and did a great job once again.
I have been more than happy with all the work done in my home, and have also recommended them to a friend that they have doen great work in their home. If you are in the market for an honest company that does top shelf work, Adaptive Construction is the place. I am a customer for life.
Examples: No plastic installed to minimize spread of dust throughout rest of house; 6 inch curb at base of shower not slanted in towards shower (until I noticed and point it out, and they corrected);
Tile around small shower window cut crooked and installed incorrectly (until I pointed it out and they corrected);
Mortar/grout for shower mixed incorrectly - too much liquid, making it grey instead of charcoal - no way to correct it - I had to spend 6 hours staining the grout black after install was complete; grout was correctly installed though - no problem with install, just color;
Slate for shower installed incorrectly - thinset should be applied in varying thickness on back of slate to compensate for varying thickness of slate tiles - this was not done, so some tiles stick out 1/8 inch more than others at the edge, possibly allowing water to get into slate tiles (I googled slate installation and found out correct method too late to have corrected).
Again, super nice guys and hard workers, just not the level of detail given that I wanted to see - perhaps I was expecting too much. If I had rental property, I'd most certainly use them for work, as the price is great and you don't need super attention to detail for rental property. 3 months after the install, the shower and bathroom are functioning correctly and no mistakes or issues have surfaced.
The contractor readily agreed with any mistakes I pointed out and corrected what he could - but the grout color and slate installation could not be corrected after the fact. If it were not for the fact that I see the grout color and uneven slate tiles every day, I would be much much more satisfied with the work and would have rated it much higher - unfortunately those mistakes were more visible.
