Walsh Painting & Construction

Walsh Painting and Construction were asked to quote on painting the inside of my house. They showed up 45 mins late for the quote. A price was agreed after an affable conversation and a time set to start the following Monday - 8am which would allow me to arrive to my job on time. At 9:30 I gave up trying to contact Tim. He did phone back with a pretty lame excuse of not having his phone charged! That of course does not explain why he was late anyway. A second time was arranged and of course he was an hour late before we managed to talk on the phone. We agreed to meet in the local Sherwin Williams. Here I bought the paint (his estimate of the cost was way off) and I had to buy masking tape and caulk - both items he said he would supply. I left them to paint my house. When I returned the place was a mess - they had spray painted all the trim (Tim had said it would all be hand painted) and unbelievably didn't removed any of the hardware on the door and it was obvious that the masking tape they had applied was not good enough. The window surrounds were also painted as agreed, but the amount of over spray onto the glass was horrendous. Somehow he managed to persuade me that it always looks this way half way through a job and they would be finished the following day. That should have sent the alarm bells ringing again as I don't believe a house can be painted in in just two days. The following day I returned home at 7pm to find another crew and Tim at work - and house in a terrible state. He promised faithfully to finish everything the following day, and foolishly I paid him. On returning home the following day I was horrified to find the house in a complete mess - most of the plastic covering the furniture was half torn off, open paint cans littering the floor, empty drink cans lying on kitchen work surfaces and on the floor, huge amounts of dust, a roughly swept pile of rubbish by the front door, cigarette ends all over the driveway, paint runs, areas of some walls missing paint, virtually no caulking of any wood work. I could go on an on. I was disgusted, and it took me a complete weekend to tidy the house. removing the masking tape revealed all sorts of horrors - paint on door handles, paint on the ceiling fan etc etc. Initially Tim appeared sympathetic but true to form never showed up twice at agreed times to remedy the situation, and now refuses to answer the phone. Some weeks later some of the paint work started to peel from a window surround revealing the shiny wood underneath and no sign of rubbing the wood down or even a primer. If all of this sounds unbelievable, it does to me too! I can't reconcile to myself how someone can do this to another person. In short, if you value your home stay away from Tim Walsh and Walsh Painting and Construction.
