The installer was nice enough, however, he was not professional and courteous; his starting time was always after 9 or 10 am; he did not clean up at the end of the workday; and he did not work well with the other contractors on site. His grouting skills left much to be desired. The uneven grout color was a major issue, and there were several areas that the installer had to re-grout (at my request) because the grout was chipping or missing. The uneven grout color issue is described below: 1. The grout on the shower floor was 2 different colors. I talked with the tile experts at Lowes, and the grout technical experts at the Mapei (the manufacturer of the grout I used). They both stated the only way the grout could turn out 2 different colors is: a) more than 1 bag of grout was used; b) the installer did not properly turn the bag of grout before mixing; or c) the installer did not properly mix the grout. I bought the grout, and only 1 bag was used. 2. I noticed the grout discoloration before the installer completed the job on the final day -- I told him I did not like the grout work on the shower floor, and pointed out the discoloration. He stated that once the grout fully cured, it would most likely have a uniform color. 3. Unfortunately, once the grout fully cured, it did NOT have a uniform color -- it was still very dark in some places, and very light in others. I contacted the installer to let him know that the color was still not acceptable -- he told me he did not know what had happened, and did not know how to fix the problem. I also told the installer that there were several places on the tile where dried grout had hardened and I could not get it off. I asked him to come back to my home to correct the problem. He stated that he was out of town for 2 weeks. 4. With little response from the installer, I used a cup brush and drill to remove the dried grout from the tile; I bought grout paint and evened out the discoloration.
Description of Work: Installed tile/grout in shower; installed plumbing fixtures.
