They should tell you about the extra charges they will add too the work being done. Like the gravel need for the deck and the gas line to the road. You would think the gravel was part of the deck and not charge more.
I understand that everyone makes a mistake from time to time but I didn't care for the way the situation was handled ("Oh, I put the appointment on our calendar for a different day. Do you want to reschedule?) Frankly I would have expected at least a minimal apology for my wasted time. I chose not to reschedule and told the woman on the phone I really couldn't justify another day off. She hung up on me (hence the grade I gave this review.)
If that is an indication of the company's service ? I am glad we learned about it before hiring them for a $$$ project like a new pool.
"We apologize for any inconvenience the confusion may have caused; however, our schedule showed the appointment for the following friday which would have been confirmed that week. We understand that this would have caused a great deal of frustration due to the scheduling conflict and our assistant made every attempt to extend our deepest apologies. Unfortunately, it was not received but our assistant did not hang up on the customer. To our knowledge, the scheduling was correct but we apologize if it was not."
"Thank (member name removed) for the wonderful compliment!"
When you begin, take into consideration downtime based on weather. Other than that the process moves pretty quickly.
A couple employees are fine folks, but the owner, James White, is just a dishonest man (which makes their ?guided by ethics? slogan look more like a strategy than a lifestyle). We rarely got a straight answer or got him to follow through. The one honest thing he did say was that our pool was just a small job (under $60,000) and that he had much bigger jobs to do and that's why his crew repeatedly couldn't show up. In another conversation he spoke of a customer that took him to court and how that case had no merit. If a contractor starts telling tales about beating dissatisfied customers in court, run away!
White's is not THE worst service provider we've had, but for the money spent on this pool you should expect at least honest and timely service. There are so many better alternatives (e.g., Neptune Pools, RCS pools). Do your research, ask installers for contacts of their MOST RECENT 5 customers (not their standard reference sheet), and avoid White's. Really, you'll regret it.
"We sincerely apologize for leaving you with hard feelings. It is our desire to please each individual customer and we strive to give the best quality of work and customer service. The allegations stated in this comment are not true. There are certain elements we cannot control (weather and weather related damage); however, even then we repaired those items for no cost that were clearly not covered by warranty. In addition, every customer is given our complete attention no matter what the customer is paying. That ethic is demonstrated in our retail store, repair service, and pool cleaning departments. If you spend $5 or $250,000 we are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and your family."
