In 16 years of service, I can only recall one time when our trash was not picked up on the correct day, and there was a note delivered apologizing and explaining what had happened. Our pickup is on Tuesday, and it doesn't matter what the weather is, or what else is going on, my trash gets removed every Tuesday, for 16 years. I can't recommend Smith Sanitation highly enough. They are a little bit "Mom and Pop", but I view that as a plus.
I do not have recycling service and can't speak to that complaint, and I've honestly never had any service issues that necessitated my calling their customer service office to be able to fully evaluate that part of the company, but they do a good job for a fair price, so I'm happy. I pay $31 every two months for service. And I don't have extra charges, except for once when I put 13 bags of grass clippings on the curb. And I was happy to pay that added fee in that case.

The woman that answers the phone is very nice. She has never been rude.
The services, however, are sketchy. Most recently, our home was skipped for recyclables. We were informed that an emergency happened on the part of the driver. Understandable. What I don't understand is how every other house in our neighborhood with this service had their cans emptied. What I also don't understand is that why, after informing the provider that we were skipped, we weren't made a priority to pick-up. Now we're left out wet, literally, with either dragging wet garbage back into our home our facing HOA fines. For reference, trash day was Thursday. The first available pick-up is Monday.
This is also not the first time my home has been skipped.

I pay $45 a quarter. They are reliable and they always pick up the trash. I would recommend them. I've never had a problem with them.
