The sod installation failed and by June 2014 there were large dead areas in our yard. After many months of asking us to be patient, that it would green up, the owners conceded it was not coming back and that it should be replaced. We were reassured for months that they would 'make it right' by us, but in the end, it was going to cost us another $1,000 with them to reinstall the sod with no guarantee once again that it would survive. We were asked to go find our own sod to replace the dead and they offered to buy it wholesale for us. We would then pay the labor plus the equipment rental. We would have been willing to pay some of the expense (since we had to anyway with a new company) but to bear the brunt of it all seemed very unreasonable. We terminated our contract.
We were able to get the turf for free from the sod farm who originally sold it to SLU after we called them directly and explained the situation. We then hired another company who charged us less than 1/2 of what SLU was willing to reinstall it for. Plus we received a guarantee on the work for 1 year. Whether it was the winter, the sod was diseased, or the sod was not installed correctly, the real problem was that after a relationship of many years, the company was not willing or unable to come to a reasonable solution to replace the dead sod. The replacement of the sod was to be entirely at our expense. Fortunately, the turf company stood by its product and replaced it for free. The owner spent a good deal of time doing research and engaged an extension service so it wasn't that they didn't care that there was a problem, they just didn't meet their promise of 'making it right' for us.
No complaints on the monthly regular maintenance but I wouldn't recommend them for a large ticket item unless you get a guarantee in a written contract. The written emails from the owner did not mean anything in the end.

Jackie Trube (owner) and her two co-workers arrived on time and started work promptly. They were more than happy to answer questions and make changes to original plans as requested. They offered tips and watering guidelines for caring for the new plantings. As requested, they outlined a new bed that will be created by adding sod to the front lawn this spring. After all planting was completed, they did a wonderful job of mulching all areas with pine straw, bringing the whole plan together. We were so pleased with their professionalism that we'll be sure to contact them for future work. I was impressed by the way they cleaned up after the job, leaving our yard so much better than it looked before they arrived. When I pointed out that we hadn't edged our lawn along the driveway and sidewalk because we don't own the right equipment, one of the guys immediately offered to do it for us! Southern Land Care Unlimited exceeded our expectations, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for yard work or landscaping, at a reasonable price. My 5% off coupon from Angie's List was honored after Jackie had drawn up the original estimate. Jackie was wonderful to work with, and very easy to communicate with, which is much appreciated. Two other companies I contacted didn't even bother to reply to my initial request. I'm so glad that Jackie did!

I contracted Southern Land Care in January, 2012 for regular weekly maintenance of my lawn as well as application of fertilization and pre-emergents and weed control. They are always on schedule and are very professional with great attention to detail. They are proactive by bringing to my attention any issues or potential issues that need to be addressed. I am very pleased with the quality of their work and value. I highly recommend Southern Land Care to anyone seeking and honest, reliable, knowledgeable professional contractor to produce and maintain a beautiful lawn.

They did all that they said. Planning on them coming back later in December to lay pinestraw.

They did a great job. The co-owner came to our house to provide the estimate and some ideas on how to accomplish the work in segments to save money. The co-owner was onsite when the work was completed and it looked great when finished. We expected it to take a full day but they were finished in less than 5 hours. They did miss the estimate on how much mulch would be needed so there was additional expense for that but everything else came in exactly as was estimated. I really appreciated getting tree advice from an arborist who is on staff. They offered good suggestions for maintenance and did not try to sell me into something I could not afford. We wound up signing an annual maintenance contract with them which was pretty much custom made for what our needs are. They will be coming 4x per year to do clean up and tree/shrub trimming. Very professional and cooperative. Punctual and high quality work.
