"We wanted to explain that the over seeding and tree removal job was done a year ago (4/2014) and was resolved to our understanding back then, we have been maintain this property since May 2013. We are always up front with our work and prices and are always fair to try and resolve a problem if one is to arise. As you will hopefully see here. Regarding the tree work: When a tree is removed and the stump is grind up, lots of mulch from the stump is left behind as it is on all tree jobs when a stump is grind up. Mulch is never removed unless we are asked ahead of time and we add it to the bid. A fee for the removal of the mulch is then added to the bid. When the tree and stump were removed and ground up we were not asked to remove the mulch so we did not quote the removal in the quote. Once the work was performed, the homeowner asked for us to remove the mulch and we did at no extra charge. We even applied a $300 discount to this job. We were asked to fill the gouges the tree had made and we did. The Home owner after the fact told me this was the first tree he had ever had removed so he didn’t know what to expect, this is why we removed the mulch at no charge. Regarding aerating and overseeding: We recommended that the client reseed or resod the lawn due to the fact the lawn was so thin and bare, with little to no grass. Aeration over seeding is only supposed to be used as a maintance option on thick already established fescue lawn, not to try and establish a new lawn, I did explain this to the homeowner during the quote, this service is not recommended for bare lawns with little or no grass due to the fact that when you aerate and over seed most of the time the seeds only germinate in the holes of the aerator so you end up with lots of little plugs of grass. This is why I recommended to reseed the lawn, meaning to till the soil so it is nice and soft then smooth out the soil, install seed, fertilizer and cover with wheat straw. The homeowner could not afford this service because the property was so large, so we ended up doing overseeding with the aerator and passed over it twice and the result was unacceptable to the homeowner. So to try and remedy the situation we did the service again at no charge, but unfortunately, still unacceptable. This is why we recommended to do the proper service needed witch was reseeding and tilling in the first place. Lawn maintenance: When the client asked to suspend his services due to recent aerating and overseeding, we were on a biweekly (Fall and Winter) service going to weekly (Spring and summer). Monthly charges for both are $140 per month. We suggested for him to keep his service for the 3 week period and that we would not mow or blow the lawn (as we do at all our other properties we do aerating). It would have been the same price ether way since we were coming out of Bi weekly into weekly service the client got upset because we would not reduce his monthly fee by half. In the beginning of the growing season 3 weeks can leave the rest of the property in a bad shape. We were trying to maintain the rest of the property so we would not have to charge an extra fee for a "small cleanup" once we return. Our offer was refused and we were asked not to come back. We are sorry we did not please this customer. We feel that we were fair and that we did a lot of FREE work to please him. We were hired to maintain his property and we were trying to do so as we knew he would have refused to pay an extra fee to get his property back in shape after 3 weeks with no service during the growing season."
