The estimate he provided was about half of the 4 others I had obtained, all of which were within about $200 of each other. I don't know if this was because his friend had agreed to pick up the cost and he was cutting a deal, or if it meant he would be using inferior materials or poor workmanship. I opted not to find out and had someone else complete the work.
I would NOT use this company for any future services and would NOT recommend this company to anyone else. Angie's list finally issued a credit for my initial Big Deal purchase since I never had the opportunity to redeem it with Perry Construction.
Thanks Anige's List for standing behind your service.
I hope by posting this review, I will discourage Jeff from treating other customers this way. Directness saves people both time, money, and inconvenience. All in all, we wasted more than two weeks trying to pin him down, which put the job off longer while we found someone else to do the work, and that delay cost us money in potential rental income.
"I have to say that I am a bit confused by this report. When we finished this project, the homeowner gave us a list of other projects that he was interested in having us complete for him. In addition, we also did not charge him $350, but reduced the cost of the project, and I always try to give the best price I can to all my customers. It is through referrals that I continue to be able to be self employed. I always let every customer know that the price may increase, if the job proves to be more difficult then expected. This may be due to unseen damages to sub structures and/or if a homeowner changes his/her mind in the process of the project. Prices are also based on level of danger that is involved with performing the task at hand and distance from my home base. In this case the job was not as cut and dry as it may have been stated in the above description. And was in fact over 25' of eaves work, and additional work was done over 24' in the air on an questionable scaffolding that we had to also take time to secure. We did use the material that was provided for this job; however, it was not the proper amount of material needed to complete all the extra work that was asked of us upon arrival. The homeowner was also on a tight budget that we tried very hard to stay close too. This job location was also a considerable trip distance from my company address over 30 miles away. At the time of this job, gas prices were $4/gal. We were able to fit it into our work schedule since the request was made to come as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, in business, as well as in life, sometimes relationships just don't work out. There was definitely a mis-communication in the first phone consultation. I do hope that you will continue to use Angie's List, and I wish you success with all your other home projects."
"Thank you for posting this report. I enjoyed doing your project. Please let me know what you might need done again in the future and keep a lookout for Angie's list specials from my company, just for Angie's List members!"
