I chose Jean Louis because his quote was much lower than the other contractors' quotes, and he came highly recommended from a friend. He estimated that it would take 3 weeks, and it took about a week longer, but he did do some extra work that was not in the original estimate (added 3 closets for me). Jean Louis was exceedingly nice, very creative, and did beautiful work, probably because he has decades of experience. He was occasionally late, but when he was at my house, he worked fast and got a tremendous amount of work done each day. I have recommended him to several friends and they've all been very pleased with Jean Louis's work. I have invited Jean Louis back this summer to help me remodel my master bathroom and kitchen. No one other than Jean Louis will ever work on my house - he can't be beat: lowest price, excellent work, decades of experience, and a creative, artistic approach to remodeling.

Highlights: 2x cost; 3.5x time estimate; left job for 2 weeks, did not answer phone; laborers uninformed; admitted to redoing most laborer work. Said he spoke to termite inspector per my request; stated the inspector agreed that to replace 12" of stucco with cement board would pass inspection; inspection cited a problem because stucco was within 12" to ground; termite inspector said the question wasn't asked. Threw away gutters (they were only to be painted); countertop edges don't stick everywhere; bathtub fiberglass repair left unfinished; painted garage floor over oil; spilled paint on driveway & didn't power wash; charged 5 days floor sander rental, then redone by professional; paint splatters everywhere on refinished floors; ceiling in master bedroom was 2 shades. Per Inspector: stucco is wrong & must be redone; 3 faucets leak (substandard); replace GFI unnecessarily & wrong. Finally, will not answer calls/email/text messages. Only PO Box. He can not be located.

He was truly amazing. Always showed up on time, stayed on budget, stayed on schedule, did way more than he was asked or contracted to do (helped me MOVE!!!) stayed until the job was done, and went WAY above and beyond anything any contractor has ever been known to do. I would HIGHLY recommend him.

Before hiring Jean-Louis, I had invested quite a bit of money to get the apartment finished, so I could rent it. I paid countless contractors over the course of several years, but it still wasn't finished and looked hideous. I contacted him on the recommendation of a friend, only because of an appraisal, I had coming up. I'm so glad that I did, because I can hardly believe it's the same place! You could tell he was putting a lot of thought into it, as he made several suggestions, that were inexpensive improvements on what I wanted done. He was pleasant, prompt and he and his crew did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves, when the work was finished. I definitely got my money's worth and then some!
