Berger Transfer & Storage Inc

It was a nightmare from start to finish. From the start there was confusion as to the size of truck that was needed for my move. Because they didn't think they could get a large van down my street, they used a smaller truck to transport my goods from the house out to the larger van - which took much longer to complete the whole moving process. The second issue was the driver of the truck brought his 5 yr old son along to my house while they were loading up the truck! I love children but this little boy should never have been allowed on this cross country trip, let alone to my home. He was under foot when everyone was trying to do what needed to be done. He was out running out in the road and could have been hit by a car. He would come up to me for food and asked that I take him to the bathroom. Under different circumstances, this would not be an issue, however, since I was moving my house about 600 miles away and moving days are somewhat stressful, the driver having his little boy there, should not have happened. Other issues were the packers were not prepared with the proper boxes to pack up the glass tops and special items. So I was on the phone with their office to try and get this resolved. Never was I able to speak to my sales person. Then when the goods arrived in Richmond, it was a total nightmare! They hired local people who were not trained movers and they dropped boxes on the ground, didn't know how to do, plus they were very unprofessional. The final straw was when one of the workers, stole a packet of checks from my box and started writing checks the next day! I caught it within 3 days but he had already written many checks. I had to call the police and filed a report. I had to cancel my checking account and contact the institutions that had received checks. In the end, I was never compensated for my losses of the total unprofessional work performed in my move. Allied denied that their employee stole the checks and the police were so busy that this was not a high priority for them, even though they sympathized with my situation. I will never use Allied/Berger Transfer ever again nor would I ever recommend anyone else use them. I have moved many times over my lifetime, and this was by far the worst move of my life!
