"Fernando did an excellent job painting an old and peeling porch ceiling, using a product I'd heard of but he hadn't tried yet. His price was extremely fair and he cleaned up like he'd never even been here. I will hire Fernando for EVERY painting prohectic I have!"

"We went to the local paint store and got some recommendations of painters.  We called on three and selected One Man and a Brush.  They weren't the cheapest, but Richard gave me a warm fuzzy feeling when he came out to do an estimate for us.  His quote was very professional, done thru an online service that we could view and sign off on, better than the chicken scratch carbon copies from his competitors.  Being in the construction industry myself, I thought I knew what I wanted with two coats paint and what caulk to use.  Richard humored me and priced up my way, but also took the initiative to provide a more cost effective solution which we ended up going with.  We also had a lot of rotted wood that needed to be repaired.  We insisted on a PVC or fiber cement product instead of wood and he was able to accomodate us.  As more rotted areas became apparent, Richard called me immediately and let me know and provided an additional cost prior to starting the work so we weren't left with any surprises at the very end.  Considering the work was done in January and we had quite a bit of rain, his team got the house completed faster than I expected.  We also elected to pay using paypal which allowed us to use our credit card and get the points, there was a small service fee for this, but when paying in the thousands of dollars the fee seemed insignificant.  I have been recommending One Man and a Brush to everyone who will listen and look forward to using them again later this year when we paint the interior of the house."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Walls should be as smooth as possible before applying peel-and-stick wallpaper. Although you technically can apply wallpaper on textured walls, the peel-and-stick variety won’t last long without a clean, smooth surface for the adhesive to stick to. If you have textured walls, consult a pro about removing the textured finish before moving forward with wallpaper.

You shouldn’t need extra adhesive for peel-and-stick backsplash tile. The adhesive on the back of the tile sheets should do the trick. However, if you experience issues with the tile peeling or falling off, make sure the wall you’re working on isn’t textured, as that can prevent the materials from properly adhering.

It is less costly to paint than wallpaper when you only consider the upfront cost. Wallpaper costs $320 to $820 when applied by a pro, while paint only costs $200 to $700 per room. However, when comparing wallpaper versus paint, consider the long-term as well. Wallpaper can save you money over time since it has a much longer life span than paint.

Accent walls have been a popular decor choice over the past two decades, and they don’t seem to be going out of style any time soon. They’re a quick and easy way to change the mood of the room without committing to painting every wall, and many homeowners like the visual interest they add to a room.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.
