 + -1 moreAfter waiting for the one hour window they gave me, I called his number and his wife told me that he was lost and didn't have my phone number. I had given him my complete address and phone number when I schedule. I called his cell, he didn't answer so I texted him. He did not respond. FINALLY, I called his wife back and she said he had already gone to his next appointment. I wasted an entire afternoon waiting on him and he didn't even have the decency to answer my call IF he had really lost my number and couldn't find my place.
Description of Work: I scheduled a piano tune a week out.

 + 0 moreIstvan Mihok is very professional and very capable. He is not a technician who can only perform superficial repairs. Piano crafting is not a hobby for him, it has been his fulltime career for many years. Based on his deep experience he quickly diagnoses issues and brings an immediate focus and the appropriate fix to the problem. I got the feeling that he could build an entire piano from scratch with a pocketknife if that's all he had to work with. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Resurfaced keys, tuned action and replaced several hammer felts on my 1925 Baldwin M grand piano.

He is old school, do what you do to the very best of your ability, charge a fair price and treat your customer with respect and professionalism.I am absolutely satisfied with his work. I will never use anyone else as long as Istvan is available!
Description of Work: Istvan came to tune my piano. He had tuned it before and did an excellent job. I own a mid-1980s Yamaha S400B, a mostly hand-built instrument on the top end of Yamaha's line. As older instruments do, the hammers had begun to harden, and the tone had gotten somewhat brighter than I preferred, so I asked Istvan about the possibility of voicing the hammers. I had never had anything like this done before, and I was understandably a bit reluctant to turn someone loose on my "baby" with a sort of surgical tool which, if used incorrectly, could permanently destroy my piano's tone. He did a masterful job! The tone is absolutely gorgeous now. He also cleaned the entire inside of the instrument making it look just like new, a nice extra touch. He is not just a piano tuner but a piano technician. He knows all the nuances of a piano and can do magic to get the best tone out of it. At least he did mine!
