EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND HIS NEW PHONE: (478) 731-8166 Although Mr. Tyndal is not insured, I decided to use him anyway, based on two positive word-of-mouth recommendations, including a very recent job nearby. Tyndal is a local contractor, which will be important if any leaks show up needing immediate attention. I doubt we'll see any, however, based on feedback from his recent job. Mr. Tyndal has no current business address, and, apparently, very little overhead. The market for new homes dried up in this area a few years ago, so it is not surprising Mr. Tyndall did not have a storefront. What he did have was a great reputation and lots of experience. I heard of him through a friend who solicited a roofing recommendation from the contractor who built their home. The builder said he would only use Raymond Tyndal. Raymond showed up with a crew of five (5) men, and took three (3) days to complete the work. They used the materials as agreed, cleaned up each day, and hand-drove all nails. They didn't use a nail-gun, because unless the pressure is just right, shingles can pull away from the roof over time as they expand and contract. By contrast, I also quoted two non-local contractors, who wanted $10K and $14K for the same job. The $10K Contractor would have used nail guns and completed the work in a single day. The other bid was from Sears, who inflicted a 90-minute sales pitch on us and a wildly inflated price. If they just said "$14K" in the first sentence, I could have saved us all a lot of pain. But the man would not deviate from his pitch. Maddening. My Tyndal wasn't like those other guys. It became clear as the work progressed that he simply wanted to put up a fine roof that would not leak. He took additional steps, not estimated in the bid, at his own expense, to tear out previous substandard repairs (a "cricket") to make sure his work did NOT leak. If it does, I believe his promise to come out immediately and correct the problem. Raymond won't have to travel in from another state to do that, either. I also appreciated the crew. I have two beautiful daughters who were in and out of the house over the 3 days. The guys never made them uncomfortable. Gentlemen, all. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for sound work at a good price. 26 JUN 2011 UPDATE - It has now rained heavily twice. No leaks :-)
