RJ was the ONLY contractor who returned our phone call for tree removal. On his initial consult, we requested he quote us for any trees that looked diseased and/or in danger of falling down, plus two additional trees that were growing right next to our privacy fence. RJ stated the two trees in the fence could wait several more years before any damage was done to trees and tagged 7 trees that he felt needed to be removed before falling down (4 were in danger of falling on house and his original quote for the tree removal and stump grinding was $3,000). He noticed we had a hole and informed us it was a sinkhole. At the time we believed we could handle that ourselves, but after researching on the internet discovered it was well above our level of expertise. RJ came out on a Tuesday to mark the trees that we were requesting he remove and we showed him the 2nd sinkhole we discovered a few hours earlier. Turns out it was all one giant sinkhole and RJ stated the trees could wait and the sinkhole needed to be worked on first. He quoted us a price of $5,000 and said that it was probably just material the builder of our subdivision buried and let us know he would be by the next day to put temporary fencing up and plywood down to cover the sinkhole as best as he could. He let us know that we could have the opportunity to work on getting the funds together and whenever we were ready we could begin. There was no pressure to set a time. We booked him right away and they began that Saturday. Neither of us was prepared for what he was about to find. RJ between Saturday and Sunday found building materials, tons of trash, a stove, a washing machine, several toilets and a CAR buried in our backyard. Needless to say the original quote ended up being thrown out the window to due the massive amount of digging and hauling away of trash. RJ and his crew were extremely respectful, answered every question we asked with patience and tried very hard to reassure us that everything would be ok. At the end of the sinkhole repair we discussed a new price for him to remove (but not grind stumps) for the original trees that were needing to come down. RJ and his crew tore all trees down in one day (Saturday), but were unable to remove all the debris as their dump truck was already filled and let us know they were going to come back on Monday to complete the work. We returned home from the store on Sunday (one day earlier than expected) to find RJ and his crew back at the house completing his work as we were expecting a massive rain storm coming through and they wanted to complete before it happened. They hauled off all of the brush (plus brush we had compiled before they came), seeded the dirt (even the dirt caused by their equipment coming in and out of the backyard) and covered the backyard with hay. RJ and his crew worked for 8 days fixing our massive issue and has even come up with a plan of attack for the other portions of the yard. We will be hiring him again next spring to complete the overhaul of our backyard, which includes him laying out the groundwork for a garden and flower bed for me. I can't recommend RJ's Tree and Lawn Service removal enough.
