1. Initial placement of fan was half over the hole.
2. Fan ran 24-hours even when temperature was below 100-degrees in the attic (the threshold of thermostat). Cause was due to roofer not reading the instructions that came with the fan and incorrectly wired the fan so that the thermostat was bypassed.
3. Shingles above the fan and near the peak of the roof were bent up towards the sky for an entire week, whether or not the fan was running. Roofer said the shingles would lie flat after the heat melted the "glue" on the underside of the shingles.
Resolution:
1. Roofer removed nails and he shifted the fan while I guided him so that the entire fan was over the hole.
2. I called the manufacturer of the fan and was told that constant running of the fan regardless of temperature is often due to bypass wiring of the thermostat (i.e. incorrect wiring). I looked at the wiring instructions and photos and found the wiring was incorrect so that it bypassed the thermostat. I rewired according to the instructions and the fan works like a champ.
3. Called Keith Pritchett to have the shingles fixed so they lay flat. Roofer returned and caulked so they lay flat.
Company personnel were polite and accommodating. But, this simple test of the work quality discourages me from considering Keith Pritchett for a full roofing job.
