Stokes came out to do warranty work on a Maytag unit that was covered under a third-party warranty after Maytag went out of business. Initially the work appeared to be fine but the technician spent hours trying to get the unit cooling properly. Once he left the unit cooled for approximately 2 months. When it stopped cooling I called the technician out and he said the unit was overcharged with freon. He proceeded to quickly release freon "into the air" and while doing that the compressor started making loud noises and eventually the compressor died. Although I cannot prove that the technician ruined the compressor, two other technicians from other HVAC companies looked at it and said that he should not have done what Stokes technician did. Stokes would not take responsibility so I had another company do the repairs so I could be assured of quality work.

We called the week after Mother's Day to have them check our A/C and refill the freon. They said they could probably be there sometime that Saturday (May 11) but, if not, they would call and let us know when they could come. Finally on May 22nd they left a message for me to call them back. I called them back on May 23rd. The lady who answered the phone said she would call Roland, the technician and then call me back. I still have not heard back from them. We are sweltering. Thank goodness it rained for 2 weeks straight and kept the temperatures down. Now I am frantically trying to find someone else who can come out.
