Worked in a very timely manner with minimal disruption to our guests, excellent craftsmanship.   Protected floors in the hallways to ensure no damage to floor coverings.  Worked very clean and left construction area very clean when completed.

"[member name removed] job was one of the worst jobs that I have ever worked on. He didn't tell me about the a/c vent that HE took down but expected me to know that it needed to be put back up! The drywall job was inspected by [member name removed] wife, and nothing was said about the joints or dust while the sub-contractors were there. Yes I broke the pipe. I repaired the brittle pipe to the best of my ability. She said that her cousin was coming over to fix the pipe permanately. The countertop that was provided by them was left out in the weather and was swollen up, broken on the edges, and warped. Totally unuseable. [member name removed] didn't trade with me to install the new kitchen cabinets, but expected me to install them for the same price.A total lack of communication on his part. I have been in this type of bussiness for 33 years, and have never experienced this degree of missunderstanding."

Raymond Walker gave me an estimate for$135; it is a small project.  I decided to give him try since he was local, but once I got an estimate, he didn’t come back.  If I have a choice, which I don’t because there are very, very few carpenters in the area, I would not use him just because he is so non-responsive.

He knew what he was doing and the job went well.  He had installed a sprial staircase previously and that's why I chose him.  The end product is great.

Raymond Walker was recommended to me by a co-worker.  I contacted Mr. Walker, he came to my house and looked at where I wanted the work done.  He returned his estimate next day and I accepted it.  I had already had another contractor give me an estimate; Mr. Walker's was nearly twice the money the other contractor had quoted, but I  asked both of them about details of the work they were to perform.  Contractor #1 was rather vague about how and precisely what he would have to do, and he proposed to "extend" the header.  I got the impression that he didn't believe I would understand what he was talking about, and that he was in a hurry to get this discussion over with. Mr. Walker explained the entire process in detail to me, including the pros and cons of "extending" as opposed to rebuilding the header (I did not mention contractor #1's plan to extend it).  I accepted Mr. Walker's bid.

He showed up when he said he would, complete with all the tools and supplies he needed.  He subcontracted the masonry work, as he had said he would; the mason did an excellent job.  It took a full day to remove the windows and brick, cut the new hole, rebuild the header and install the doors.  When I got home from work that evening (my roommate was there during the work) the site was completely clean, everything worked and the only finishing necessary was another coat of drywall mud and the trim.  Mr. Walker arrived next day and finished those, as well as hanging some interior doors  that I had asked him to do the previous day.  I paid separately for those, but there was no "adjustment" or quibble about the original French door installation estimate.

The doors have now been in constant use for over a year, and I am very, very pleased with the work.  I would hire Mr. Walker again without a second thought.  He is honest, thorough, professional, neat and careful, and a pleasure to deal with. I gave a "Good" rating to Mr. Walker's price, because although I believe he gave excellent value, I could have paid less for the same work and the difference would likely not have been noticeable for several more years.

Got Raymond's name and number from a co-worker who had used his services. His quote was almost three times that of the first contractor I called, but Raymond explained why the job would cost that much, and his explanation made perfect sense. (The French doors were replacing a pair of windows, but the entire hole had to be moved horizontally by a few inches, which involved rebuilding the header. The exterior of my house is also brick, so masonry work was involved.) I suspect that the cheaper contractor would have a) run into "difficulties" and ended up charging more and b) would have done a job that would need to be re-done in a few years. Raymond showed up exactly when he said he would, with all the tools he needed. Got right to work, cleaned up every particle of mess produced, and just as he promised, I would never guess that the French doors he installed had not been part of the original construction. He estimated two days to do the job, and it took exactly two days. The interior doors that he fitted are precisely right (much, MUCH better job than I did on the single one I hung myself) and I plan to hire Mr. Walker for my next major remodeling project, finishing the carport and adding a bathroom.
