Each year, yellow pollen binds to the roof material and does not release, causing the roof to look very bad. Last year, I had to get on the roof and clean with a brush which is very dangerous. This year, I called 14 different vendors looking for someone to clean the roof and no one had heard of having to clean a roof due to pollen. It made me question the roof material. I have spoken with two different metal roof manufacturers and they stated I should not be having this problem with a metal roof. I called and spoke to Detailed Metal regarding my issue simply looking for help. From the start of the phone call, the person (did not get his name) was extremely rude- stating that I should expect pollen to fall since we are in Georgia. He then continued to compare my roof to a car, saying I have to wash my car to get the pollen off. By the way, that is not true as if you put a car with lots of pollen in a good rain storm, then the pollen will wash off without having to wash it by hand. Detailed Metals was of no help and was very defensive- I believe they thought I expected something from them when all I was doing was looking for some help- like could there possibly be something wrong with the finish? If not, then is there a way of cleaning these roofs without putting your life in danger? Or, should I just expect a roof from Detailed Metals to look bad after the first pollen fall for the life of the roof? Bottom line is they were rude, unprofessional, and showed no concern for my problem. They made me feel like a moron, like I should expect pollen to fall. I know pollen falls in Georgia, but I would think on a metal surface, it would wash off with a good rain. I got a metal roof because they are advertised a low maintenance. I do not consider having to wash your roof every year low maintenance!!! I never had to get on my shingled roof to clean it off!!!!
