Initially the Contractor came from the recommendation of my office staff. Contractor seems very efficient and seemed to know his job. He came to my home and took all the measurements to estimate the work. Once the estimate was given to me I agreed to the price and the workup began. Once the work was nearly completed it was discovered that the contractor had used hollow core doors, we specified that all the 11 doors should be solid core. We negotiated this mistake by accepting that 2 of the doors would be switched to solid core doors and the rest would remain as hollow doors. Once the work was completed contractor was paid in full. Work was completed fairly rapidly but then it was discovered that one of the windows was trimmed with a knotted pine. Requested that he come and retrimmed the window with a clear pine, as he had done for all the other windows, so the knotts wouldn't bleed through the paint. For the next 9 months we attempted to communicate with the contractor to get him to come back to put in the 2 solid core doors and trim out the window with clear pine. He would ignore our calls and e-mails. Finally I threatened him with legal action and he contacted me and came in to replace the doors and the window frame. He completed the window trim with clear pine and replacing one of the 2 door slabs. Then he never returned to finish that last door to this day. Generally the quality of his work was quite poor. When he installed a crown molding he would nail it into the plasterboard never striking the actual wood frame. Also the seams of the wall molding were not precise with large noticeable gaps. He did not seal these gaps. Several of the doorframes were not nailed to the wall frame. He also did not take away all the debris during this construction which included several old doors. He was paid to remove this construction debris.
Description of Work: Finish carpentry for a 2000 ft.² area comprised of multiple rooms. This included molding, door installation with casings, and baseboard molding.
