"My husband and I hired Charles Smith from Smith Restorations & Repair to get some work done (inside and out) over 3 months from Feb - April of 2018. In total, Smith Restorations handled repairs to our tree house, built a new deck, which included some stone patio work, installed floors for our entire first floor, updated our 1/2 bath and remodeled my kitchen. We just moved into our new home in August and spent some time thinking about what we wanted and Charles Smith was the perfect person to put our plan in place. Let me share why we hired Smith Restorations and why we continued to hire them. 1) Smith listens to what you want and gives you what you need, making every attempt to combine the two. I am not a contractor and Charles had much better ideas than I did for how to rearrange the kitchen. We went from thinking we had to move electrical panels and walls to a much simpler design which he believed would achieve the same end. It did. His ideas saved us tons of money. 2) He was the only person who came out and gave a care about our tree house. It was dangerous, needed to be dealt with and two other contractors came and stuck up their noses. 3) We were given options, some of which included sketches. There is more than one way to do things and he knows more than one way. Great good, better, best scenarios. 4) Smith allowed us to use our resources when we had them (I had a good electrician friend) and he did not look to mark-up workers that he brought in to drive up the price. 5) Smith cleans up and hauls away mess. Every day. Enough said. 6) Cost effective. Straightforward in materials and labor costs. 7) Smith Restorations went above and beyond for us and we just kept coming up with projects. Specific to the kitchen, it was small and cramped due to the placement of cabinets and an oversized island that served no function. Charles worked with us to measure the space, re-imagine the area and made some great suggestions as to products to purchase like flooring and tile. I was able to purchase the cabinets myself and maintain control of the design. He checked over everything before I ordered it, allowing me to take advantage of special financing, etc. He demoed the kitchen and installed the cabinets in just a few days. He was so meticulous in getting them aligned correctly and all the appliances moved with the plumbing into the right space. If we were up against a deadline for countertops, he would stay until it was done. The luxury vinyl floors that he recommended and installed have exceeded our expectations. The kitchen is truly transformed into the farmhouse kitchen we wanted and we could not be happier with the partnership we had with Charles to get this all done on time and on budget. "Earnest Middlebrooks and his brother, Michael Buckles, were hired to do a job for me. They were terrific because they arrived on time, did the job expertly and were nice gentlemen. I had Earnest patch and paint some damaged places on my dining room wall. Then, I had Michael remove our electric fireplace our builder did not insulate before putting in and then he rewired it. Because they did that well, I hired them to put up a new motion detection flood light. Great job, again. I plan on calling these guys every single time I have a project from now on. Call them.
