He was very professional and detailed. Tore the original shower completely down to the ground and started from scratch designing a custom tile shower. I also had him design my kitchen took old cabinets out and replaced with new and custom backsplash. Want him to come back and completely remodel 2 nd bathroom
Response from Shawn Broderick
"Thank you so much for the work it was a pleasure working with you too thank you"

Went great. Shawn called to confirm when he should be here. Also, came in thr time frame discussed. He did great work and was concious of how much materials cost so there was little waste from the square footage we came up with. Worked all day on a Sunday and fit the rest in to my schedule when he came on Monday to finish up. He completed it by himself and in only 2 days (Kitchen, foyer and Laundry room). Cleaned up his mess and even made sure that if we had any issues with anything he didn't mind coming back. Definitely had the experience that he needed to get the job done the way that was expected. I would recommend him for flooring work and I plan to let the rest on the board of my HOA know that if they need anything this is their man.

Work was done as promised. I actually wrote a review more than 3 years ago...not sure why it keeps showing up on my page when I log in!!

He was prompt. The price was good and his work was good. The brick work looked good. Overall I was pleased with the work. The only problem that I had with him was that I felt that he overcharged me on some supplies in the end. I just paid this and chose not to do business with him because like I said his work was good. I will not use him again because I was not sure if I could trust him.

You cannot see the seams anymore. The carpet looks seamless now. Also, the bathroom floor looks so much better with the new molding, caulking and transition strip. I did recommend him to my son-in-law and I am considering letting him put new vinyl in the kitchen.

Shawn does very good work for not much money and is trustworthy, but he cannot be depended on to keep a schedule. If it's a time critical project I would not suggest using him. Otherwise, he is good worker and can accomplish just about anything you ask.

The first day he showed up with a worker a couple of hours late. They installed the tile and said that he would have to wait for the thin set to dry so he could grout. So he said he would return the next day. He asked for a portion of the agreed upon payment prior to leaving, stating that he had to pay a bill. I should have known then. The tiles looked good but there were some wide gaps at the corners. I thought it would look better when the grout was completed. It took him several days, telephone calls and text messages for him to return. Prior to grouting I had given him the grout release, but he said it was not needed. So he grouted without it. He had previously agreed to replace electrical outlets and switches after the tile was complete. He said he had to wait for the grout to dry to do that, and left. He returned the next day and seemed pleased with his work. He replaced the outlets and switches. One of the outlets did not lay flush against the tile. He said it needed a longer screw and said he would return to to fix it as his mother lives down the street and he would come by when visiting her. After he left I looked more closely at the tiles. The gaps I thought would look better after grouting in fact, looked worse. I now have at least a 1/2 grout line on an outward turning corner. Some of the slate tiles should have been replaced prior to grouting. Slate is a stone and not always smooth. So, the job would have looked better if 3 or 4 of the tiles had been replaced. The inward turning corner had grout buildup that no doubt would have been minimized if not eliminated had he used the grout release. When the painter came he looked at the grout lines that were next to painted walls and complained that they were "a painter's worse nightmare." I have since learned that those lines should never have been there. There are several ways to handle that location, but most appropriate is to round off the edges and not grouted. The 1/2" grout line has been noticed and negatively commented upon by several people visiting my home. I have to admit every time I go into my kitchen my eyes are drawn to the ugly grout lines in my beautiful tile. I have call Shawn and advised him that I am not happy with the work and asked him to return. He initially told me he would, but he did not show up or call me to explain his absence. He no longer takes my calls or returns messages. I have texted him and he does not respond. My last attempt to contact him was one week ago yesterday when I sent him a message via Angie's List. I told him I expected him to completed the job not later than yesterday or my dis-satisfaction would be reflected in this review. True to form, I have not heard from him. I will attempt to provide photos of this work to make the buyer beware. If this review dies not help to remedy this situation my next course of action will be to hire a real professional to repair the mess. That will also cause me to file a small claim in court to recoup the money I paid Shawn, the cost of repairs, and court costs. If I'm being unreasonable I'm sure the judge will tell me. I cannot express how much I dislike the job that was done or having to take these measures. At this time I would not recommend him to anyone, ever, for anything. His work was shoddy at best, his character questionable, and he certainly is not professional.

Shawn is good guy and very knowledgable. Did a great job on caulking and re-grouting our shower. Also had him paint interior rooms and did ok job - not his expertise I would say.

At first I was very pleased with Shawn's response to come over and give me an estimate. While a little unprofessional in his means of communication, I took that as a sign of a creative mind. He seemed knowledgeable and experienced and I felt confident in my selection of him as my installer. He was able to meet my timeline (at first) and beat my competitor's price point. He performed the initial install of the wood flooring without incident on the day and time requested and I was pleased with the results. However, when he needed to return at a later time for the molding it was a disaster. I could not get a hold of him on his cell number and he did not return my calls. I used an email address that I had for him through this service and received more response from his staff (girlfriend) via that method than any other. He was unable to meet me at a convenient time and did not meet the deadline for the ENTIRE project like I was hoping for. He ended up having to come over on a Saturday evening while I had company. (That was my settlement because I just wanted the project over and done with).
The quarter round that he put in that he swore would match my trim exactly does not match at all and it is very apparent. The pieces around the fireplace have completely come off and I am now having to try to repair it myself. The staples were not attached to anything. Instead of a finished product that looks seamless, it looks like a broken, unmatched project.

This guy is brilliant, can do anything and does excellent quality work at a reasonable price. The only downside is pinning him down to a schedule...but he's worth the wait. He is also a one-man show, so often asks for a down-payment for supplies. He's good for it.

Scheduling with him was very easy. I called him and he was here within 2 hours to look at the project. He was able to start the job in three weeks which accommodated our schedules. He has followed up multiple times to make sure we are satisfied and the tile looks right. We will be working with him again because we were so satisfied with his work.

I found Shawn on Angie's List after going through a few other candidates' proposals. Shawn came to the house the day after I called, measured and gave me an estimate right on the spot for my kitchen, and separately for my dining and living rooms. His first proposal was on a piece of lined paper out of a journal. Since it was my first time I ask for something more formal via email on letterhead. He obliged and emailed me the quote.
I tried him out with the kitchen first (approx. 160sqft). I purchased a special tile called Brick-A-Floor pavers. They are delicate materials, break easily and are difficult to install. Shawn was up to the task and did a fantastic job with the installation and my kitchen floor looks great! It took about two weeks. Here's a breakdown:
1-he didn't come consecutive days and worked alone
2-I ran out of materials and had to order more - it was my fault, not his
3-It took a day in between each to let the grout dry, then the sealer had to dry before applying another layer
4-He gets an A+ on the transition pieces because he custom made them from a piece of stained wood and the brick pavers.
5-Installed cement backer board instead of just the cheap plastic stuff.
The kitchen came out so well I proceeded with the dining/living room area after selecting a 16" ceramic tile. Job took about a week. Here's a breakdown of the job:
1-He worked with two other guys. Note: not very clean in the sense they got some grout on my walls and didn't cover my wood floors so everything got dusty, but Shawn at least did grab a broom and start sweeping.
2-They removed the carpet and took care of the disposal.
3-Went above and beyond because he offered to go to Home Depot to pick up the tile (~500sqft).
4-A+ on transition piece. He custom matched a wood piece from the ceramic to my wood floors and no one can tell they are different woods.
5-Helped me decide on a pattern and what worked best with the flow since the living opens to the dining.
6-Installed cement backer board instead of just the cheap plastic stuff
7-I wished he had installed quarter round pieces on the baseboards, but that wasn't part of the job description. I may have him come out to do that.
My floors came out great! Will use him again for the second floor whenever I decide to redo them.
PROS:
-He definitely knows what he is doing.
-Very flexible demeanor.
-Personalized service (you work with directly with him and share ideas on what works, what doesn't).
-Competitive pricing (doesn't nickel and dime you to death like the box stores).
-Works weekends.
CONS:
-Timeline shifts. I think if you agree on it in the beginning he'll follow it. I just didn't specify it. Lesson learned.

Sean did a tile repair at our front door that nobody else wanted to tackle because of the complex detail of the tiles; he did a GREAT
job!!! Would we use him again-absolutely, and we plan to do so. 5 STARS and the price was very reasonable.

We received several bids from individuals and companies associated with Angies list. Shawn’s bid was very reasonable and his time frame (he could start almost immediately) worked out well for us. He started right away and was very conscientious about his work and protecting the rest of the area. He cleaned up behind himself each day which I also appreciated. While working on the backsplash he had noticed several repair issues (doors to pantry & gate were not aligned properly and the molding was not finished, etc..) and after asking went ahead and fixed them. For a single working mother that was an unexpected gift. His manner was always polite and respectful.

I had shopped around and received quotes from different tile installers - some were as outrageously high as $1000 just to do the tile in the shower, $10.50 / sq. ft! Shawn's prices were competitive with Home Depot ~ $3.00 / sq. ft. At first I was a little skeptical because I had heard horror stories about tile guys starting a job and disappearing without finishing it but I decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did. Shawn showed up and got right to work. He was very respectful and takes pride in his work. He explained all the things he was doing and answered all my questions. It took him about 3 days to finish the job and it looks great! I was particularly impressed that he made all the tile cuts symmetrical instead of just putting the odd-sized cut tiles in at the walls. (See Photos)
I am going to be doing some tile work in the kitchen and carpet throughout the apartment and plan on using Shawn again.
