The service was alright. They did what they were paid to do. However, they tore up a lot of lawn to accomplish the task, as they use a back hoe (another company we had come back out in may only used a shove- "Banks"). We had them (Mr. Rooter) out a month earlier to do the same service as the drain field was not emptying the tank. At this point, Mr. Rooter tech advised we needed a whole new drain field estimate 12,000 to 15,000 dollars. Was not happy to say the least. We paid Mr. Rooter to set up soil sample as required by code. Three weeks later, they still had not come out to take sample and tank was nearly full again. Called and cancelled soil sample and had Mr. Rooter refund the charge for this.
At this point, got on Angie's List and looked for new septic company. Tried JC but they couldn't make it out for a week....business is good when your highly rated on Angie's List. Anyway, went to next high rated provider - Banks. They came out the next day. Two guys with shovels and truck. Pumped the tank and gave me some advise on how to keep some water off of the drain field, redirect down spouts from the gutters. Also showed me with steel pole that drain field was saturated but obviously working. I fixed the down spouts and have not had a problem with drain field or septic tank since.....oh almost forgot.....I didn't have to come up with 12 to 15k for the fix.....
So Mr. Rooter isn't a bad company, they did pump the tank as charged BUT....got to watch all the little charges they throw at you....extra water pumped, extra hoses needed, etc....you need a new drain field.....didn't have any of the that crap with Bank's. Both times Rooter came out they charged me over $700.00, Bank's was only $280.00 and they were in and out quickly with minimal lawn damage
"This was posted on the wrong mr rooter angies list ad sorry you had these problems it must have been mr rooter roswell we cant service norcross area"
I called to schedule an inspection appointment and spoke with Jennifer who was thorough, thoughtful, and helpful. Since I didn't know where the septic was located, Jennifer gave me the local Environmental Health office number to request a platt and record for our property. When the Environmental Health office said it would take two weeks to email the record, Jennifer swung into action and asked Steve the service tech to pick up the documents on his way to my home, sparing me a trip to the Environmental Health office. (I mean, seriously, how nice was that?)
Steve arrived within one hour and located the septic tank. He noted a couple of issues that--according to him--would need to be addressed within the year but not necessarily immediately. He called in his colleague, Nathan, with the truck, and he arrived within 30 minutes. They set to work and realized quickly that in the house's 40 years, none of the previous owners had pumped the tank from the main access hatch, only the smaller front and back access hatches. (Come on, people, take care of your houses already.)
Because of that, the tank was not only especially full, but also especially, uh, compacted, which meant that Steve and Nathan had to work three times as long (90 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes) to empty the tank. In addition, they had to use water from our garden hose to assist the process. They worked diligently, consistently, and professionally the whole time they were here. Steve was particularly instructive in explaining not only the areas of concern he noted, but also simple ways to internally maintain the septic system--one packet of Fleishmann's Yeast flushed down one toilet once a month--how easy is that?
So, the only reason I gave a B on the price was because there was a $100 additional charge for the extra water, but considering how much harder Steve and Nathan had to work, the fee seemed fair. (That doesn't mean I was happy about the extra Benjamin, though.)
I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Rooter, Nathan, or Steve. It is hard to believe that all within one day, I went from knowing nothing about my septic system to knowing where mine is, that it's now empty, that there are some maintenance repairs due soon, and that taking care of the system from inside the house is possible and easy. I mean, wow. Great work, Steve and Nathan.
Oh, and did I mention that Steve rolled up the garden hose for me after he was done with it? Nice. Nicely done.

The additional service more than tripled my expected bill. They fixed them and pumped the tank. I still have slow flushes. They were nice, hard working and professional but I'm not sure they corrected any issues I was having but perhaps what they did will help me in the future. My toilets may be under
