First, I'd like to say that Roy is a nice guy, and personally I liked him a lot. He charged a fair price. He seemed to know what he was doing, although he did have a handful of assistants whose skill levels varied widely.
My problem was that it took him 6 weeks to wire my smallish house. Before hiring him, I had asked an electrician friend (who no longer lived in the state) and quite a few people with experience in flipping houses how long the job should take, and the answer consistently was 1 or 2 weeks. Roy was juggling several jobs and might show up for half a day, then a two days, then not again for the rest of the week. Because other renovations hinged on getting the electric in first, I had to keep rescheduling these other jobs, and they couldn't always start immediately. The delay ended up costing me two more months than expected of simultaneously paying rent and note. Also, it was often impossible to leave a message on his voicemail because the mailbox was full.
My electrician friend, visiting several months later, took a look at the work and said the wiring was up to standard with a couple of small exceptions. As I said, some of the assistants were less than skilled. One miswired a ceiling fan, something I caught while Roy was still around. Also, a 4-gang switch in the 2nd bathroom was miswired so that the wall light couldn't be turned on without the fan coming on, too. The assistants also made some careless mistakes, like mismeasuring and drilling a hole up through my kitchen floor instead of into the wall.
I would trust Roy with doing the actual work, but only if there's no rush.

Roy had difficulty getting to me because of a job he was already working. I had difficulty reaching him because of this telephone. It took two days after I called when he showed up. He was polite, courteous and apologetic. He quoted me a price and I got him the money. He compleated the work quickly and cleaned up afterwards. I will definitely use him again, and I will recogmend him to my friends and aquaintances.

Roy was very willing to come out to my house for what was probably going to be a very small job, but it was important to me...I couldn't figure out why I didn't have electricity to part of my house. He figured it out quickly and fixed it, charging me a lot less than I had expected to pay. He was very nice and polite, knowledgeable, and on time. The last electrician I used was a real jerk, so Roy was a breath of fresh air. I will use only him from now on!

I bought a 100 year old shotgun which needed work and I also wanted additional design/cosmetic work done. Roy got the necessary work done in one day and came back when we had finished the re-design the following week. Very pleased with the job, his helpful advice and his friendly, polite crew.
