I have been a customer of Battlefield Plumbing for over 25 years and always call on them for service when needed.
The two men from Battlefield Plumbing arrived and made up for the previous frustrating contact with their company. They immediately went to work to replace the leaking water pipes and restore my home with water. They also installed water cut offs on the hot and cold water pipes going into the water heater.
All of which is trumped by their failure to show up or communicate that there was a problem on the scheduled day a week earlier.
Specifics:
Called Monday or Tuesday (don't remember which) for appt on Weds, 7/10. Gave details of service to be performed. Receptionist/dispatcher committed to having plumber(s?) sent out the following day but could not pin down time beyond sometime during the workday.
I designed my day around being available for entire day. Including paying (overtime) an employee to sit and protect my otherwise closed business during a construction project. Time I could have used in managerial duties at my business if I could have been there in her stead. Left employee's commitment open ended - I would take her place once I was available to relieve her.
Weds (7/10): no show by noon.
Weds (7/10): no show by 3pm.
Weds (7/10): no show by 4:30pm.
Called Battlefield Plumbing at 4:30pm,
"When can I expect someone?"
"Oh yeah, there was something...well one of them had to go to the hospital this morning. They can come tomorrow."
"No. Tomorrow won't do. I am only available on Weds, and even that is very difficult. I have incurred considerable hassle and expense to be available all day today."
***No apology offered***
Still, have been pleased with previous level of service, so.... scheduled for the following Weds (today, 7/17).
Called employee staffing our otherwise closed business - too late for me to take her place now - besides, she's made last minute childcare arrangements. Total cost for me: $350.
Tues (7/16): Called Battlefield Plumbing - confirmed appt for the following day.
Weds (7/17): Showed up and performed service in professional and timely manner.
No recompense offered.
Not even an apology.

Dammit. WHY OH WHY COULDN'T SOMEONE HAVE SPARED THE MINUTE it would have taken to call early last Weds once they knew they couldn't make the scheduled appointment. I understand emergencies. I would have been very understanding and would have hoped that whoever had to go to the hospital was okay. It would have freed me up to make my day more productive, would have spared me paying an employee hundreds of dollars of overtime, and would have freed up my employee to get on with her day.
I have used this company for the past 23 years. Their work was always without problems up until they began using the Shark Bite Couplings to repair water leaks in copper water supply lines. I will not in the future permit the use of these Shark Bite Couplings in my home to repair copper water pipes. If the responding technician insist on using the Shark Bite Couplings he will be asked to leave and I will find another plumber.
As stated above.
I called Battlefield around 7:00 am Friday (she answered even though her time doesn't start until 8:00). I explained the problem and she began making arrangment to get someone out to my house. I finished getting ready for work as well as I could without hot water. I reached work at 8:30, just in time for her to call and say she had someone on the way. I made arrangements at work & headed home.
When the technician arrived, it was apparent I needed a new water heater. He gathered prices for a replacement and for a tankless gas water heater. He also explained the additions I would need to bring the water heater up to code (I have an older home). I decdied on a tankless water heater.
The technician picked up water heater and installed it and cleaned up afterwards. It took about 6 hours, but there was alot involved. He had to cut vents in the side of the house and reconfigure some ot the pipes.
Overall, I am well pleased with the work they did, and highly recomend them.
