J B FLOORING

First of all, I liked these people. I liked the guy who installed the cat door, the men who worked on my floors, the painters, the two women in the office I dealt with when paying invoices, and the gentleman who oversaw the work. My major problem with this company is its prices. FLOOR REPAIR The initial estimate for the repair of my floors was $900. This grew to $2000. Although I was kept apprised of the increases along the way, and signed off on each one, the initial estimate was not realistic. In addition, I was told all furniture would be moved and the entire floor would be repaired, and this did not happen. To be fair, I think this was not a standard job, and I'm not sure every contractor would have agreed to take it on. CAT DOOR I had two other quotes for the installation of a cat door: one for $60, the other for $65. J B Flooring quoted $175. Although I asked for an explanation for the difference in price, I did not receive one. I went ahead and had J B Flooring do the work anyway, because I didn't want yet another contractor in my home. PAINTING DEN CEILING I also had two other quotes for painting my den ceiling, including applying a little mud to smooth out a few areas. Both of the other quotes came in at $160. I asked J B Flooring if they could paint the den ceiling, and within a couple days notice. To their credit, they were able to get the painters out within a couple of days. But, the invoice for this job was $300.... and I bought the paint!
