About us

Bishop-Thiem Septic Service, Inc. was established in 1962 by Mr. Bishop. Mr. Bishop started the business while he worked at Delta full-time and did a lot of pumping at Hartsfield International Airport (now known as Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport). Ron Thiem, purchased the company from Mr. Bishop in 1999 after 10 years of service under Mr. Bishop. Mr. Bishop always insisted on quality, thorough, and honest work. Under Ron’s leadership, Bishop-Thiem Septic Service, Inc. continued to carry that philosophy forward. In 2015 Ron's daughter, Kevi Schram purchased the company with every intention to uphold the previous integrity and philosophy in years to come. When we make an appointment we will make it on time or we will call the customer. All questions or complaints are answered immediately and adjustments are made as necessary. From beginning to end the Bishop crew was personable and quick. They really came through for me when I was in a fix. It took two teams to fix my problem, but those two teams took the initiative and worked together to solve the issue. Outstanding service.

The experience with these folks seemed like something from days gone by. In this era where customer service is for the most part a thing of the past I was pleasantly surprised to find a company that is not only professional and responsive but also honest and caring. The work on my tank was complicated both by poor original workmanship by the builder and poor maintenance on my part. The crew that was sent went above and beyond to get the work done in a timely fashion and correctly. Due to a number of unknowns they offered estimates covering each contingency they could encounter upfront and explained everything in great detail. Once the final project started i had to be out of town and as they arrived they kept me updated of each step, sent pictures and explained remotely what was going on. Once the finished they made sure the area was left as clean and restored as possible, and while they could have charged all the way to to the "worse case scenario" estimate they actually came in as the lowest. Could not recommend them any more, if you need any of the s services they offer don't look further, they have a life long customer here.

The two young men were very polite and professional. They were very patient because I was not sure of the exact location of the tank. They did an outstanding job.

I cannot say enough good things about this Company. From the initial contact, Carlos took ownership of this project and made me feel like his only customer. I was considering another company, but it was the personalized attention that tipped the scales for me. Once hired, Carlos and his Team not only delivered on promises...he exceeded them! I was kept informed throughout and when I arrived on site from out-of-state, Carlos and Kevi both met me to ensure I was satisfied with their work. I appreciated the manner in which they approached the project as if they were working on their own home and tried to be respectful to my property. Later in the day, one of my landscapers asked me who had done the work on my lawn. He said in all his years of landscaping, he'd never seen a septic company leave a property in as good of shape as Bishop Thiem had. I am so glad I chose this company!

The office staff were helpful and friendly. The price for basic service was great. The scheduled appointment was on Saturday which I was surprised about but was appreciated. It was an extremely hot and humid day. The technicians worked really hard and everything went smoothly.

Was having a bad smell in the yard and heard some gurgling so I knew it was time to get the septic tank looked at. Based off of some friends' recommendations, I called Bishop. They responded fairly quickly and were able to come out later that day to pump the tank.
When they arrived I wasn't overly impressed. It was two guys looking rather unprofessional. I think one was in a t-shirt and the other might have had a uniform on but looked sloppy. I have rocks that have more personality than these guys. I tried to engage them in conversation and talk about the problems we were experiencing and I got almost zero response. They just started poking in the dirt and started digging up my yard with hardly a word or eye contact. My septic tank is right  underneath a garden bed that has ornamental grasses so I asked if they could be careful and at least set the ornamental grasses to the side. He gave literally no response and walked off to get the track-hoe. While he was doing that I took it upon myself to grab a shovel and quickly dig up 6-8 ornamental grasses and set them to the side. I understand they have to dig up yards, but a little courtesy would have been nice. So they proceeded to do their thing and one of the guys warmed up just a little and was trying to explain what the problems could be but he didn't really give me much confidence because of his lack of professionalism. They covered everything back up and left, leaving a large grey spot in my driveway that the truck exhaust left.
Overall, I was not very satisfied. They did what they said they would do and they were punctual, but there was MUCH to be desired from a professionalism standpoint.
Today, we had standing water and smell in the yard so I called them back to see about them checking it out. I got put on hold twice for an elapsed time of 10 minutes. I hung up and I'm trying out Precision Septic. I'll update after having them service my septic.

I had uncovered my septic tank in the morning to check its level. It was full and needed emptying badly. I called Bishop at 2pm and they were at my house by 3:30 even though they had a full day (they had a little incentive as I had completely dug it up and it was the easiest pump they could ever have) they did give me break on the cost for already having it dug up. They were very thorough, made sure I saw how clean they got the tank and cleaned the filter. Upon payment they made sure I saw how much my credit card was charged. Xavier and his assistant worked hard and deserve a thanks.

Pumping was at the price quoted, but... 1) On initial contact with the scheduler, I reported my observation that the septic tank flooding the yard. When I could not tell her what service I required, the scheduler became short and impatient. 2) I have been around the world numerous times and have managed to communicate with many races; however, Precision Septic service personnel's version of English was nearly impossible to understand. We communicated with one or two word phrases that were frequently repeated. 3) The backhoe used scraped up the driveway when they could have used rubber feet under the metal pads. The rubber pads were plainly visible and available on the backhoe. 4) County Code requires the septic company to inspect the tank exit "T". The Precision Septic operator identified the "T" at the tank exit as missing. The missing part was not in the bottom of the tank. Precision Septic indicated they would need to return another time replace the "T". 5) Part of the septic tank lid over the input end was broken. The broken section was a half round type and only rectangular replacement sections were available. Precision Septic indicated the near proximity of the driveway meant they would need to remove some of the driveway to properly place a new lid section. If they had replaced the "T" at that time, I could have lived with a cracked lid. CONCLUSIONS: The tank was pumped at a good price, no repairs made, and soil replaced. County offices indicated Precision Septic had pumped the tank about 5 years earlier. The missing "T" was not identified at this previous pumping. The back hoe did not need to operate from my driveway. The company could have brought a "T" out and installed it with only one excavation. Since the tank needed to be excavated a second time, I had another company replace both the "T" and broken lid section. The new septic company kept their back hoe on the dirt of pine island. (The island is on 3 sides of the tank.) and they did not damage the driveway even when expanding the excavated area to place the new rectangular tank section.
Response from Bishop Thiem Septic Tank
"[member name removed], we are NOT the company that did this work. We are the company the came AFTER the company you think we are. We are the one's that actually fixed the problem. We replaced the lid and tee on your tank. You'd told me it was Bishop who performed the first work, we are Precision. Please contact Angie's List and remove this review. Thank you Steve"

The workers, as always, were professional & courteous. However, about a 1.5 years prior, Bishop had replaced the septic tank pump. My system has an alert feature operating off of a switch & float from within the tank & it was active, indicating that the tank had filled up. It turns out that the abundance of wire (which was just tossed into the tank) attached to this alerter got tangled & caused a false alarm. The technicians used tie wraps (they didn't have any, so I provided them) to keep the wires from interfering. I was charged $175 for Bishop to correct their own faulty installation! I don't think the 1.5 year delay excuses this company from standing behind the original installation which cost in excess of $1500.

I was charged and paid for a complete tank pump out but since my tank has an access port on one of three tank covers the service men seemed determined on doing little as possible and only pumped from that area of the tank.  I questioned them about the normal course of action but their answers seemed misleading.  I've concluded they only wanted to avoid uncovering the entire tank as would be normally required for complete emptying and leave ASAP.
