MCS MERGENTHALER CONSTRUCTION SERVICES

I would NOT recommend Robert (Bob) Mergenthaler to anyone else. BEWARE, he has NO contractor license. He has NOT adhered to our contract for the past several months. Bob worked with our builder to do finishing work for our home during the construction process. But due to the economic downturn in the housing market, our builder eliminated the need for Bob's services. So Bob was faced with unemployment and no sustainable income. Out of our generosity, we agreed to enter into contract with him to finish our basement. We started the project on March 31, 2008 and as of September 2008, the basement has yet to be completed. (IMPORTANT NOTE: It took less time to finish building our entire single-family home, from clearing the land until when we finally received the keys than it has taken Bob to finish our basement!) He may or may not show up from time to time to continue work but it depends on "circumstances", which for him, seem to arise very often and frequently. He still has no estimated completion date and whenever questioned about this, he provides what turns out to be a false answer, basically he lies. He has no project management or financial management skills. This experience sends us a message very loud and clear that no matter how much you feel sorry for someone or how big their "puppy dog eyes" get, make sure they are legit. Robert (Bob) Mergenthaler is not that person.
