Initially I hired Darren/The Yard Boys to mow my country acreage at my home and my rental, about an acre here and 2 acres at the rental. He made himself immediately available for our first appointment to evaluate both properties and provided a reasonable quote very quickly. The mowing was done on time and done very well all through this past summer. Yesterday, the guys came and removed two huge, overgrown oleanders and two pampas grasses. They did a terrific job removing the plants and the debris. And pampas grass is such a mess!!!!!! The cost of this job was $950. I don't have a before picture that I can locate but below you will find the finished job. Most of the fence was not visible because of the overgrowth. The Guys' work is always neat, they are always on time and are always very cordial as well as professional!! I recommend them highly.

Darren was very polite and seemed to be genuine. He showed up in person relatively quickly to bid the work. When he showed up he was respectful, attentive articulate and took notes, he had a real can do attitude.... It took him over 4 weeks to submit 2 proposals, on for a list of small 1 time jobs, another for regular service. The proposal omitted several of the details I had specified. We went back and forth on email for several weeks, I itemized missing scope and he continued to claim he was very busy – he would take care of it. While I was "waiting" for him to perform work, I found others to preform several of the "one time jobs", had the performed in most cases far more cost effectively than the Darren's bid. I updated his proposal each time work was performed, and cancelled various small jobs when they were completed by others. 2 days before he showed up, I re-outlined the scope of work, considerably reduced from his original proposal. Then he finally showed up, worked one day and disappeared for a couple. The work performed was largely incomplete, generally sloppy and poor. A couple of days later, he called to make arrangements to get paid. I told him I thought it was premature; there were several items that were not complete. He agreed to meet me and go over what “I thought” was incomplete. We met, I pointed out each item that he missed, failed to complete or was unsatisfactory - a conversation that lasted well over an hour and basically went through every job that he had claimed to perform. His general response was of the form – we originally said this, but when you cancelled it, I figured I did not need to do the part that I agreed to do. I emphasized that for example saying that “you do not need to trim the brush on the back of the lot, but I need you rake, pick up and clean up the leaves along the side fences” could not be reasonably construed to exclude getting up the leaves along the side fence – and beside, you claim to have trimmed the brush on the back lot even though I told you not to do that”. He apologized; He scrambled (a little) and put forth minor effort to rectify. I paid him in full (actually for work I told him not to perform as well), he agreed to correct all of the incomplete wok, hauled off a few limbs a some rotten lumber the previous home owner had left behind the shed and that was the last time I ever saw him. My wife and I talked about, I wrote him an email and advised him we no longer required his services, cancel the biweekly maintenance. I received an email back, the next day, politely requesting and explanation. I gave it some thought and decided that if did not understand at that point, no amount of explanation was going to change deficient cognizance. This review is that explanation, that I so wanted to give him. Footnote: My neighbor mentioned that he gave his card when he was here and she decided to try him. He trimmed her hedges (allegedly); she called him after and pointed out all the things she had asked him to do that he had quoted and hadn’t done. He said he would get it next time. He came the next time and didn’t do it. She called again, and offered to come back and fix it, she told him to never return to the property. I mentioned that I was fixing to give the yard boys a recommendation, she consented to allowing me to share her (this) history as well.

I highly recommend them because they are very punctual and reliable. I could call him at anytime and any day he would be here within days to cut grass for me.
