"I had them fabricate and install a single top rail curved hand rail down sweeping brick steps from our main level to pool level. They beautifully adjusted for an angle change half way down. I also asked if they would install a stainless steel hand rail I had purchased for my pool stairs. While they had never done one, they agreed to do the job. I would highly recommend this company!"

"From start to finish First Fence was responsive & clear. They walked the property to discuss what we wanted. Made some suggestions for a better outcome, then sent an agreement with all of the details for us to sign. We paid a deposit in order to secure our time on their schedule, then paid the balance after the fence was installed. They also removed & discarded the old fence. All completed in one day. I really want to give 4.5 stars. A half star off for the length of time it took for them to come back and replace/adjust the gate, as the wood warped and it wouldn’t open. That took a month. All fixed now."

"Mike was great! Extremely knowledgable with a lot of experience.I m a Realtor and thanks to a horrible home inspector not only did we loose the contract on my sellers home, he scared my poor seller to death with his false findings! Mike not only did an amazing job of explaining all of the inspectors false findings but he really put my client at ease. We could not be more happy with his years of knowledge and professionalism! He will be the only structural engineer on my referral list!"

Welding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

While a high-speed circular saw will cut through metal, and even cut through multiple sheets at once, the fast-spinning saw blades create a lot of heat. This heat can damage paint and other protective coatings, leading to serious problems like rust over time. The cost to paint a metal roof again to avoid this damage is typically an additional $0.50 to $1 per square foot.
