If you're looking for Forestry Mulching in or around our surrounding area then you probably already know there are very few people who own this type of machine. I always saw the clean paths underneath power lines running through smaller rural counties and wondered how these paths were made. After calling Flint Electric they told me these were made by the use of a Forestry Cutter or mulcher who contracted with Harper's Tree Service. For those that don't know, a forestry mulcher in my opinion is better for the environment than a buldozer because it basically leaves the soil intact but just runs over saplings, underbrush, vines, stumps, fallen trees, etc, (things too big for a bush hog) and grinds them leaving the mulch to cover the ground. Three years ago when I bought my property the previous owners had the timber cut about 10 years prior and elected to not have it replanted. I saw the small tract as potential, but knew it would take a lot of work. After setting up an appointment with Harper's, Randy sent a crewman out to perform the work. The crewman came out and cut paths through the property large enough to drive a truck through, some of the volunteer trees were larger than 5 inches in diameter, dead or diseased, growing too thick, or mishapened by wind damage. What was previously overrun with scrub brush, and briars taller than 5 ft. tall is now accessible from several access points. The land now allows for greater use and enjoyment. The crewman only exited the machine to wipe his windshield clear of dust and debris, to take a before picture, tighten a loose tooth on the mulching blade, and to refuel twice. While the price seems a bit steep at $150.00 an hour there are a lot of things to consider such as the wear and tear on the equipment, disel fuel prices, no charge for equipment setup, etc. I was very pleased with the workmanship and skill of the operator, and would highly recommend this service to anyone needing it.

We called Randy Harper to come and look at our job. He quoted us a price and his crew arrived a few days later on the agreed upon date.
We did a "walk around" and reviewed the job to be completed prior to the start of their work. By the end of the day they did exactly what we asked.
I highly recommend their service.

It went better than expected. His quote was the cheapest by a long shot. His crew was courteous and professional. There were some challenges with the job that made it more costly for Harpers, but he stuck to the original quote and didn't even try to pass those costs on to me. I would use them for future projects and recomend them to anyone in the area. You won't be disapointed.
