The big box store estimated the cost at $900. This plumber quoted me $500 (all-inclusive). He said the plumbing was substandard because like the previous reviewer said, several lawsuits were pending against the building contractor whose houses were affected. He offerred to document the problem but since we incurred no damage from the sub-standard plumbing we declined. He upgraded the plumbing to meet code. We intend to use him again for future work in converting a garage into a laundry room/bonus room. He was courteous, timely and as the owner of the business knew his craft and did a fine job.
