I had contracted Pretty Handy Guys (hereafter PHG) to install two sets of french doors for my home office. I purchased the doors and hardware from Home Depot, and PHG installed the doors and bought paint and other supplies (using my credit card). The installers had to come back 3-4 times to complete the installation. The paint that was applied to the doors was extremely poor quality, and the installer's attempts to fix the paint only made the situation worse. One of his visits, he removed the doors and brought them home with him for the night in order to sand and re-paint with a paint sprayer, as opposed to using a brush. When he brought the doors back with him the following day, there were multiple nicks, scratches, dents, and cracks in both sets of doors, I assume as a result of poorly securing the doors during transport. I have photographic evidence of all this damage, as well as the unacceptable paint job. Also during the course of the installer's work, various areas of my property were left with white paint stains. This includes the sidewalk in front of my home, my front walkway leading up to my front door, my front stoop, (somehow) on the tree in my front yard, the hardwood floors outside my office, and the carpet inside my office. In the interest of full disclosure, I did receive a $400 reimbursement for this paint damage from PHG's insurance company. Upon voicing my displeasure to PHG, I was informed that the installer had been fired from the company, and PHG requested that I no longer communicate with him. I complied in good faith that the company would rectify the issue. I informed them that the doors were not salvageable in current state and new doors would have to be purchased and installed. Instead, I was told multiple times that they were working with their insurance company to file a claim in order to fix the issues, and I should be patient. Several weeks later, I was told by PHG's insurance company (Next Insurance) that they would not be replacing the doors since I had never paid any labor costs to PHG for the job. I replied that I'm more than happy to pay for labor upon the completion of the job, but PHG has been unresponsive and/or uncooperative to that reasonable request. I've reached out to the owner (Rick Patterson) via email and informed him that I would be submitting complaints and poor reviews of his company, and he has not replied in any way or attempted to reach out to make things right. A satisfactory resolution would be for PHG to purchase the new doors, paint, and install them according to our original agreement. Upon completion of the job I will gladly pay labor costs.
