They don't have a good recommendation.  I gave them an F on just about every review I could find because one of their doctors, and I never will forget her name, she killed my cat.  I had a cat that was very sick, and I took it for an emergency.  There was an approximately two year old male Serengeti cat, and the cat could not stand up; it was falling down.  So I drove him to the Village Vet for an emergency.  The doctor examined the cat, they kept my cat overnight, they did lab tests, and she calls me to tell me results of the lab tests.  I think they kept my cat for about two or three days, and told me the cat had a very serious disease and there was nothing that they could do for the cat and the cat would die.  But I later found out, a month later, that the disease that she diagnosed the cat with, the cat didn't have.  The cat had a treatable disease.  The cat had lymphoma, which is a type of cancer.  She said it was feline infectious peritonitis, which is an untreatable disease in cats.  You can't cure it; it usually kills the cat.  It was very expensive; we spent about $5,000.  We drove the cat to a specialty hospital because the cat got sicker and sicker.  That doctor was giving the cat medicine and treating it and things like that, and the cat got sicker and sicker, and eventually the cat just couldn't stand up.  So we drove it to a specialty hospital where every doctor is some kind of animal specialist.  It's like a human hospital for animals.  They had all the specialists examine the cat and said your cat does not have feline infectious peritonitis; your cat has lymphoma.  However, because the cat had not been treated for lymphoma, there is very little that we can do for the cat because the cat platelet count was extremely low, the red cell count was extremely low.  They gave the cat every treatment that possibly could have been done, and my cat died.  So I called that female doctor; she said she was sorry.  So I e-mailed and called their director, and asked to come in and talk to him.  He said he didn't want to talk to me about it.  I said do you realize she misdiagnosed a treatable condition, and because she misdiagnosed a treatable condition and then treated the cat with the wrong medicine, my animal died.  And it was very expensive.  So that's why I don't give them a very good review.  They took a lot of money from us.  Fortunately, we were able to get - we contacted a lawyer and the lawyer gave us some recommendations - and we were able to get $2,000 back.  The emergency clinic gave us $900 back, but the bill was like $5,000.  I mean, we put a lot of money on credit cards for that vet.  I don't give them an excellent review for that treatment.  And I told the vet, this cat does not have that disease.  She said oh yes it does; I said no it doesn't have the disease.  I said I think my cat has cancer; treat the cat for cancer.  She wouldn't.  I begged her; I said treat the cat for cancer.  I don't believe it has this disease.  I've been a medical scientist for twenty years; I know what I'm talking about.  She thought I was fooling her.  My cat had cancer, just like the specialist said and she would not treat it after I begged and begged her.  I don't think there's a good recommendation I could give this hospital.  The do have a very clean facility and convenient parking.  It was a very bad experience; my husband cried for a week.  We will probably never get that cat again because it was a very rare breed of cat and the only breeder is in California, and I live in Georgia.  The good thing about it is, because of my cat's death - he died from lymphoma but the doctor diagnosed feline infectious peritonitis - I give to cat research every month and I distribute fliers to the vet clinics to let other pet owners know about feline infectious peritonitis and things that could kill their cat without them knowing it.  I didn't know anything about it, and it basically starts from the place that you get the animal from.  I went to counseling for two years because of the Village Vets experience.

The staff here are very knowledgeable and caring. They have bent over backward for us on several occasions caring for our very sick elderly cat. They are the reason he is still with us today. Dr. Finke is our absolute favorite! Their care is not cheap, however and we rarely get out of there without spending at least $100 per visit.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE...THEY ARE SCARY DISORGANIZED.  This is not my regular vet.  I adopted a wonderful dog thru an amazing rescue organization and as part of that adoption, my dog needed to be spayed and microchipped at one of their "partner vets"...which turned out to be Village Vets in Decatur.
I called the day before my appointment to make sure there was nothing additional I needed to bring, and they confirmed they had
everything they needed already.  So I was rather surprised when I arrived and they said that they didn't have any of her medical records, and the form I was filling out stated that I would be charged for a heartworm test if she didn't have one on file.  She had just had one in January, but since they didn't have the records, I would be charged for that.
I went home and e-faxed them the records.  I called them to make sure they received the fax, as I don't trust fax machines.
Whomever picked up the phone could not have been more rude...I was clearly bothering them.  They sounded as if I had just asked them to solve world hunger...rather than to check their fax machine.
A few minutes later, I received an email.  This person (on their Reception Team) was wondering if (the name that my dog had when she was with the rescue group) and (the new name I gave my dog when I adopted her) were the same dog.  This seemed odd to me, as I had clearly explained it to the reception desk staff that very morning, and the paperwork that I filled out that morning should have helped to put two-and-two together.  This is not rocket science here.  I replied that yes, they were the
same dog, and that the records were complete...no additional vaccines or medications had been given other than those records.
Seven minutes later, I get another email from the same girl in the Reception Team saying: "I'm sorry I can't find a file under your
name.  Have you filled out the online form to transfer ownership?  When is her appointment?".   Seriously? At this
point, email is clearly not working, so I called her.
She was clearly exasperated when she answered the phone, and I did my best to clear up the confusion. However, the fact that she was unaware that my dog was actually in her facility at that very moment was just insane.  What kind of records do they keep there?  Does the left hand know what the right is doing at all?  If this is how their OFFICE is run....what is going on back in the back with the MEDICAL personnel?  Do THEY know which end is up?  I'm honestly wondering if they do....because my little itsy bitsy Chihuahua (she weighs all of 7 pounds) came out of her spay procedure with an incision that is almost 4-inches long.  It takes up almost her entire abdomen.  I have owned female dogs all my life...every one of them has been spayed.  I have NEVER EVER seen a spay incision that has been this long....EVER.
To top it off, when I picked up my dog, they forgot to give me her microchip tag and information.  When I called the following day, they gave me grief about it.  They tried to say that they only send that to the rescue group.  Which makes NO SENSE, as I have already adopted this dog.  I legally own this dog.  The dog wears the identification tag....not the rescue group.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.  I will never go anywhere near The Village Vets again...even if it is an emergency.  NEVER AGAIN.

I would recommend them. I have been going there ever since it had been opened. It is a very large company owned by Dr. Will Draper who is an extremely well known veterinarian in this area that everybody loves and respects. They are very well-organized. They provide great service. They have a large place. They call you to make sure that your dog is okay. They just do quite a bit of good customer service. They are expensive like every veterinary company.

As I walked in the reception area with my German Shepard for the first time the staff made me feel as though I had been a long time customer. But, my Shepard was quick to notice this was not the place she had been going in for her first 12 years of life and showed signs of being nervous. Some of the Techs came out individually and greeted her. By the end of the 2nd visitor she was relaxed and soon stretched out on the floor. We were seen by the Dr. and her Tech, on time, both of my and quot;little girland quot; warmed up to very nicely. The Dr. and Tech asked great questions concerning my dog versus running down the and quot;general question check list.and quot; I have also purchased food and maint. medicine from the Village Vets. I intend to take my 2 cats soon, and recommend their service to anyone who wants to take your pet(s) to a place where you and your pet will be comfortable and leave believing your pet received the best care possible.

Went to the vet because my cat had a bump on her bottom and had been there for about a month. Anytime I tried to mess with it she would cry. So I looked for a vet in Atlanta because my usually vet is on the south side and my cat hates going for rides. So I called the vet and it was a Sunday and they were open. Very clean place. I filled out the online form the night before so no paper work. We waited about 10 minutes before seeing a doctor. Everything turned out fine.. The doctor was so nice. She even suggested a weight loss plan because of my cat's weight and her brother, who I told the doctor was bigger than her. The doctor was never rushed answered all my questions. Never pushed us to buy special things. Overall the experience was great and I will be taking the rest of my animals there.

The main thing I look for in a vet is a willingness to be focused on the welfare of the animal rather than trying to and quot;treatand quot; the owner and give them what they want. That's not to say a good bedside manner is unimportant, but it shouldn't take precedence over being honest about what's best for your pet and the cost/benefit of different choices. After I had our previous dog put down after a lengthy decline, I was looking for something more along those lines, and an excellent veterinary specialist recommended Dr. Amy Mathews specifically (Buckhead location) according to those criteria.
Since then, I've been fortunate that my dogs have been relatively healthy, but it's been a couple of years of regular checkups and minor issues. I've been satisfied with the other doctors at that location as well as with the prompt and efficient scheduling/follow up from William Hart and others at the front desk. Medication prescriptions (in my inexpert opinion, of course) have been pretty reasonable, and most (but not all) times they are smart about not piling on micro-charges for routine small things like anal gland expression in order to pad fees. I definitely trust them not to string me along with big procedures in pursuit of an unlikely outcome of a healthy pet if something should come up.
I don't have a direct opinion on the other locations, of course, but to me it speaks well that the techs and other vets at this location as a whole seem very consistently professional and friendly.

Toby, my 11 year old golden retriever mix, and I moved to Decatur from
Maryland in July. I'm realistic in knowing my dog's age and life
expectancy. For that reason, I have taken him to the vet at the
earliest sign of any health issue and for regular check ups two to three
times a year. As Toby got older, his skin allergies started to make
him pretty miserable. I took him to a dermatologist in Maryland and we
started allergy shots-- which worked wonders! When I moved to Decatur,
his dermatologist could not treat him across state lines. I used
Angie's list and recommendations from veterinarian friends to find a new
vet in Decatur. On September 13, I took Toby in to get a referral to a
dermatologist in Georgia to resume allergy shots. Village vets is
housed in a clean, modern building. I waited a couple minutes before we
were shown to the exam room. Dr. Stacy gave Toby a thorough exam and
noted a potentially cracked tooth and a mole on the inside of his
cheek. She said that oral melanomas are common in golden retrievers,
but this growth was located in the best possible spot-- on his soft
tissue. She didn't pressure or guilt me into treatment and told me what she would do if Toby were her dog. In addition to removing the tumor, she said she would look to see if one of his teeth needs to be extracted after an xray. She scheduled him for her next day of surgery on the following
Tuesday. The full realization of what was happening to my baby hit me
later that day. On one hand I was really optimistic that Dr. Stacy
wasn't doom and gloom and told me that she has seen amazing results from a new melanoma vaccine, if it is melanoma. On the other hand, I know and have known for
many years that one of the top killers of golden retrievers is oral
melanoma.
Dr. Stacy performed the surgery on the following Tuesday. Meanwhile, I was in South Africa for two weeks on a work trip and more concerned that my geriatric dog would be okay with anesthesia than the outcome of the surgery. Dr. Stacy knew I was out of town and emailed me to let me know he did fine. I was waiting patiently for five days for the pathology report and finally emailed Dr. Stacy on Sunday evening, thinking Dr. Stacy would return my email sometime on Monday. She emailed me back on Sunday night with the pathology report-- oral melanoma and referred me to a veterinary oncologist :(
Since then, Toby has started the oral melanoma vaccine and there is no sign so far of the melanoma returning. I've been back to Village Vets a few times to follow up on his abnormal urinalysis results. During a later visit I waited two hours because of a miscommunication. When Dr. Stacy found out, she refunded the cost of the lab test and apologized sincerely for the miscommunication and my extended wait. When the lab test came back abnormal, she offered several different options for tackling the potential problem (a urinary tract infection or a bladder infection).
Throughout Toby's life, he's had five different vets and four vet specialists. It's probably safe to say I'm ridiculously in love with my dog. I make his dog food and treats. He gets baths every week and has 9 dog beds (when I say it like that, I do sound a bit crazy!). My point there is that Toby is my family. He's so incredibly important to me, that I've made major life decisions with his best interest in mind. Dr. Stacy is by far the best vet Toby has had so far. She's thorough, empathetic and seems to have Toby's and mine best interest at heart. I am grateful that we found her and I absolutely credit her with giving me more time with Toby (did I mention that the life expectancy without surgery is about a month for oral melanoma?).

I have been going there for a few years. They are like a full service veterinarian office and hospital. So they can handle everything from basic vaccinations and exams all the way up to like serious surgery. I know that whatever is going on they will be able to take care of and they will have somebody there on staff. They are also open 24 hours. I came home at 10 pm and my dog was so sick. I called them and they were able to set up an appointment. That was also reassuring. All of their vets that I have seen are all really top notch; I have seen three different vets there. They have all graduated from some of the best veterinary schools. I have never had a bad experience with any of them. I think that they are expensive by virtue of what it is but they try to minimize the cost as much as they could. They were very forthcoming with what to expect for the cost.

I called the office in the morning and was offered an appointment time in less than an hour, which was very convenient. Dianna Eichorn was the technician who did the intake. She was very gentle and cheery in her pre-examination. About 10 minutes later, we saw Dr. Finke, who was also very friendly and compassionate. She did a full body exam and gently moved her leg to make sure nothing was broken. She determined that most likely she had been bitten by another cat and had a small infection, based on her elevated temperature. She gave her a shot of antibiotic (but also offered pills in case I wanted to give them orally at home), and sent us home with pre-filled pain medicine in small applicators. The next day I got a call from Dr. Finke making sure my cat was on the mend. My cat had perked up the next day, so we only had to use the pain meds for one day.

I found the entire office to be very professional and courteous. As another reviewer mentioned, we were also offered the full body work-up, but we declined. They moved to the next question and never asked about it again, so I didn't feel pushed in any way. I've also had the experience at another vet's office where they spent some time giving me the cons of allowing your cat outside, when I had marked and quot;inside/outside.and quot; This was not the case at all with Village Vets. I would definitely use them again.

We recently moved and didn't have a vet in Atlanta yet. We found bloody urine on the floor and didn't know which of our 2 dogs it was from, so we called and booked an appointment for them both. We were able to come in the same day. They were really thorough going through all our paperwork to make sure they have the full vaccine records, and found that everything was up to date. They gave us cost estimates in advance of accruing the expense. The vet clearly explained the advantages of any extra tests and the risks of skipping them, but not at all in an alarmist way. We were planning on doing urinalysis for both dogs, but she found the infection from the first dog and so didn't test the second dog and saved us money that way. She said our dog should be treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic either way, but said there was a urine culture we could do for the dog to test her sensitivity to antibiotics or something. It was like another $100, so we declined and there was no pressure. The office was busy but the staff was really efficient and professional, and the facility is excellent. It's expensive, but I feel like it's normal for the area and very high quality care and service.
