The bad news is that you really pay through the nose to get the work done quickly. It starts with $45 for just about anything, credited to the repair if you go that far. But to get them started quickly, you must pay $100 extra, which is not credited to the repair. That is an honest approach, but it is expensive. The most recent repair took 2 days just to complete it, mostly for copying a large volume of data and testing, so maybe there was no way around that. I use my computer for my business, and I am out of business without it, so I just can't afford not to pay that extra $100. Without it, I am guessing that the entire time out of service would have been nearly a week. If you only use your computer for games or social functions, maybe you can put up with that but I cannot.
I had one other problem. I wanted to bring my computer back after the second repair because the symptom recurred, intermittently. The computer would shut down and indicate that a "thermal event" had occurred when turned back on. That symptom was the same as the one initially diagnosed, and it was discussed with the technician as one that might not have been remedied because he could not be certain of the cause. I can understand that there might have been more than one problem, requiring additional work, but I didn't think it was right that they would charge me that extra $100 all over again unless I was willing to wait. I wasn't. Right now, the problem is still intermittent so it remains unremedied, cause unknown.
You can probably see from the above that I would have been well advised to buy a new computer instead of paying for expensive repairs, especially since the computer is more than 5 years old.. The problem with that is that a new computer requires a couple of days' work just to get it working approximately like the old one, installing software, replicating settings, coping with software licensing limitations, etc., and I didn't have time for that. In that sense it is like a comfortable pair of old shoes. I just didn't want to part with it.
