The job was done well.

I called Matt on Sunday (when they were closed) and he answered his phone and scheduled our appointment for the next morning. He gave us a quote, based on what I described to him, and he said it sounded pretty easy to fix. He showed up on time, fixed the problem and charged exactly what he said he would. He was very knowledgeable and professional.

It went great. Zero complaints. Mathew left no mess and his finish work was top notch.

One of my kitchen circuits kept tripping and I initially assumed it was the microwave, then when that got moved I figured it was the outlet itself. The garbage disposal is on the same circuit so I had no usable sink. Based on reviews here I contacted Matthew at Oakhurst and he made time to come over the next day and troubleshoot for me.
He was prompt and very knowledgeable and efficient. He eliminated the possibilities and found that the garbage disposal was the culprit. Once that was disconnected the outlets worked fine. Knowing that I had no working sink until that could be fixed he got me a new one and replaced it within a day. 
I could probably have done the installation myself (I've done it before), and he was a little more expensive than my long-term electrician (who was fully booked). But Matthew really knows his stuff and I just wanted to avoid the work in this case. He's super friendly, answers any questions you have, is extremely thorough and clean and I will definitely use him for my next electrical project.

I had used Matthew before to find out and fix why my fridge was not working. He suggested a temporary fix (extension cord)  came, found and fixed the faulty relay. Then hooked up my new dryer whose cord did not meet current codes.
This time I called him for an estimate on what I needed done. He came when he said he would, e-mailed his estimate promptly and after discussing appointments showed up on time. He had all the equipment needed and knew exactly what to do. The only glitch
was that 3 of the bulbs I had for the outdoor lights  were dead. He waited patiently while I made a run to the nearby Ace Hardware to get replacement bulbs. He charged the estimated price exactly .
I have a few more electrical issues to deal with in my 65+ year old bungalow and I don't plan on calling anyone else. Matthew is familiar with problems in older Decatur homes and is very frank about what needs to be or not to be  done.
 
Not to mention he's a really nice guy who likes cats and dogs.

Note, price is very approximate, don't use it for reference I am writing this review months later. But I actually just called Oakhurst again a few minutes ago to have more work done. They the company that I currently recommend to anyone who asks if I know a good, reliable electrical company. My answer, I have a great one for you.

First off, I called Mathew on a Sunday and he actually answered the phone, which I thought was great.   He was very courteous, and provided me with all the info I needed at that time.  I was prepared to leave a message and get a call back, but this was better.
Next, the estimate was simple and easy.  Installing a fan is (typically) a straight forward job.  Other companies that I called required that I pay 50 bucks just to get a quote, which seems silly to me.  Mathew was more than happy to provide me with a boiler plate estimate, with the caveat that if there were complications, that it might be more.  It was not.  
I let Mathew know that I could be flexible on time, because I work from home, then we set an appointment for a few days later.  He called me a few hours before my appointment, and said he thought he could get the work done then, if I was free.   He then came over and did all the work that we talked about, for the price we talked about.  It was pretty straight forward and uneventful.
After he was done installing the fan, I asked him a few questions about some weird electrical things in my house, including extra switches, switches that do nothing, broken GFIs, and a set of 3-way switches that were not working right.  He investigated each of the items, taking time to explain everything, and fixed the improperly wired 3-way switches.  This probably took an extra 30 minutes of explanation and rewiring.  I assumed that I'd pay for that extra time, but he said he was happy to help me since he was already there, and did not charge me for the extra time.  
Mathew is a true professional, and did a really great job.  Next time I have electrical needs, I will certainly be calling him to for help.

I'm afraid there are not more details.  In fact everything went smoothly.  He is a very nice gentleman.

.     The repairman came when he was scheduled and was clean and well equipted. He looked over the electric system and made a few minor changes and recommendations.We talked about several projects and he made suggestions. He did not give me any names as he didn't know anyone specific to offer. I respected him for that. He helped us put the electrical system in a more functual  routes. I was very pleased with him and all my contacts were positive. Very professional. Limited service area but was able to make an exception  to come a mile or so beyond his usual area.

It was quick and efficient.

Needed to change size of floodlights to smaller sizes when the job was getting started.  I should have better communicated the size that I wanted in advance.

Matthew quickly and efficiently pinpointed the problem we were having with a light fixture that was blowing out bulbs. Turns out it wasn't anything to do with the fixture itself so he didn't even charge us for his time. We'll definitely call him when/if faced with a serious issue.

We had a central air unit which was broken and I kept tripping the breaker in my room. I had a window unit that cooled pretty well but he rest was pretty warm. I decided we had to have help. I checked Angie's List and found  very nice man even though I called at midnight. He set a time to call me back and gave me some short term suggestions I followed his direction and was able to get cooler. He came today and did some things to the central unit. this reduced the power drain in my room by making the repairs to turn on the central unit running and I didn't need the window unit making it possable to turn on all of my modern conveniancies to my room. Mathew was an exceptional  professional and sense of conffadence. I was very happy with his services. I will definitely .recommend his to every one in his area. we are a little out of his limits to help us. OAKHURST ELECTRIC WAS GREAT!! no I can make coffee in my room!!

Mathew responded immediately to our initial call, came out at the appointed time and gave us a detailed estimate, with parts and labor costs broken out by task, within 24 hours. He came out to start the job on a Monday morning and was exactly on time, and finished the job by early afternoon. The work did end up costing more than the estimate by about $200, but that was because it turned out that the kitchen fixture (which he had estimated just needed some wiring work) had to be completely replaced; he discussed the change and got consent before starting the work, so it wasn't a surprise to us. The additional money included the replacement fixture as well as his time to travel to the store to purchase it since we preferred that the job be completed ASAP rather than waiting to purchase a fixture ourselves and then ask him to come back another time.

Mathew was nice and utterly professional. He quickly repaired a number of minor and major issues and also did an overall check of our home's wiring. Our house is so nicely lit now! We would hire him again in a heartbeat, except he did such a good, thorough job that we probably won't need any other electrical services for years. When we decide to move forward with the exterior lighting projects he will be the first person we contact.

Mat was absolutely wonderful!  He answered my call the st time and was able to set up an appointment time that was convenient to my hectic schedule.  He provided a quick estimate and was able to book an installation appointment with me that moment. 
(I had an estimate scheduled with a different contractor the day before and that contractor never showed up!)

Mat pre-purchased all of the equipment needed for the job in advance so he was able to come in and get right to work. 
And the best part, since I know that he did a great job, on the back of his business card, he provides a list of contractors (plumbing, landscape, etc) he recommends.

Within an hour of calling Matt, despite having a full schedule for the day, he was here, investigating my problem. The lights in several rooms had gone out spontaneously, so I was obviously fearful of a short/frayed wire/etc--my big concern being potential safety hazards. Matt methodically diagnosed the issue, and installed a new pair of junction boxes to address a faulty termination in the attic. He also terminated an additional improper termination in a junction box, an outlying item our inspector had previously identified. Matt did ALL of this work for the same price I had been verbally quoted for installing junction boxes on our poorly terminated connections.
