Intown Roofing

We had a good experience with Intown Roofing/Intown Craftsmen. They replaced our leaky roof quickly and did a professional job. The cost was in line with the estimate, and the office communicated well throughout the process.

I write this review with mixed feelings but an overall lack of trust in the vendor. I will explain why. The pre-sale engagement, the craftsmanship of the contractor, and the overall repair work was excellent. The company was easy to work with, provided an itemized estimate for the job, and was easy to schedule the work with. My discontent comes post-work. Intown Craftsmen do not provide the homeowner with an actual invoice. Typically, I expect to see an itemized list of materials and an associated cost with any contractor. Instead the final invoice was the exact amount as my original estimate. This included ~$325 in estimated materials (27% of the full estimate). Without the itemization it is impossible for me to know if In-Town's estimate was fair. Worse, they cannot tell me what materials they needed - something that I as a homeowner am very interested in ("What did they put into my house?!"). I spoke with Jeff at In-Town about my concern. While our conversations were very professional and he worked to get me the answers I wanted he raised another concern for me. Jeff informed me that they do talk to the homeowner about any difference in the materials estimate *unless they go over budget*. Instead they always bill the estimate. They never inform the homeowner of an underspend of budget. I cannot sit comfortably knowing that In-Town did not substantially overinflated the materials estimate as a means to increase profit. They are unable to provide any evidence to the contrary. Jeff understood my concern and provided a $50 credit to me. While I appreciate that (sincerely) I still do not know if the final material estimate was fair or substantially overestimated. The only thing that I do know is that it was not underestmated. If it were - as Jeff told me - they would have come to me invoice in hand.

Intown Roofing was amazing. Not only was the work world class quality, but it was also completed in record time. They obtained the permits within a day or two and had the entire roof and tresses replaced within a week. Luke and Russ were so easy to work with an willing to answer ANY question I had. I'm beyond thrilled with the work they completed and would not blink at hiring them again or recommending them to family, friends and neighbors.

I had a very positive experience with Intown Roofing for our roof repair. All emails or phone calls were followed promptly with a response from Deb--she was knowledgeable and eager to assist us. The repair itself was smooth and much easier than I had expected. Best of all, the cost was 1/3 of what was quoted by other companies. I really appreciate their work.

I was sitting at my kitchen table for dinner with my family when I felt a drop of water hit my shoulder. At first, I assumed it was one of my daughters transforming her dinner into a projectile, but it turned out to be something much more concerning—a leaking skylight. I called my friend that had recently told me how happy he was with some work he had done at his house on a water damaged bedroom. He recommended Intown Craftsman and I called them that very night. I received a response the next morning, a phone call from Russ Melton. He assured me a member of the team would arrive soon with an estimate and even invited me to call him personally if I didn’t hear from the team soon. There was no need, I received an email and a call later that day. Russ showed up the next day and provided an estimate for the project. While I had him there, I showed him some other issues with the house that had been on my “to-fix list” and he provided an estimate for those projects as well. The cost was exactly what I expected, and I gave him the go ahead to schedule workers ASAP. They came within a few days, even though it was all happening around the Thanksgiving holiday. Jose and another roofer (sorry, I didn’t catch his name) showed up early for the appointment but waited out front until the appointed time. They were courteous, kind (even to my very excited dog), and had the problem fixed in no time. They even installed additional flashing to the second skylight (which hadn’t yet started leaking) just as a precaution, free of charge. The office staff were just as kind and professional as the roofers. I worked with Deb Burris who helped me with billing and scheduling. The interface for billing was simple, the contracts and estimates were clear and easy to understand, and she was very knowledgeable and responsive over texts, emails and calls. I will certainly be calling them again soon for those other household projects. I recommend using them if you have any home improvement or repair needs. Dr Ethan Tussey

I have relied on Intown Craftsman for handyman repairs, but recently I needed roof repairs. The team did not fail! We discovered openings in the eaves of our porch roofline when a possum managed to gain access to our attic. Intown Roofing came to assess the problem, discuss solutions, and provide estimate. The staff worked with us to schedule the work and the crew arrived on time and prepared. They were courteous and professional and fixed the issues (it was a bit of a custom repair) quickly. Intown Roofing has done a great job for us on multiple occasions. They have a wide-range of expertise and we've used them for bigger issues related to our roof and even smaller problems with our garbage disposal. They have always responded quickly and professionally no matter when/what the issue is. I highly recommend this very friendly company for all your roofing/handyman needs!

I had another company scheduled to come out to help me figure out how to best fix my leaky roof and they were a no show! The next day I called Russ Melton and within a few hours Deb from Intown Roofing contacted me via text and voicemail and Carlos was at my house that very same afternoon at a time that was convenient for me. The problem with the roof was a bit more than a patch job so the work was completed on another day - again at a convenient time for me. My neighbor who was home told me he was watching them do the work and said, "They definitely did it right." Everyone I spoke to was very friendly, very knowledgable and the customer service at Intown Roofing is impeccable.

My house is so beautiful thanks to Intown Roofing! Their attitude made me feel like my project was very important to them as if this was their home. I’m very pleased with their attention to detail, quality of work, and superb customer service. The roof and gutter installation and clean up went smoothly. Both the project manager and owner of Intown came out to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Intown Roofing really is everything you want in a company – professional, courteous, punctual, responsive, knowledgeable, easy to work with and honest.

The roofer had never installed the unique shingles I had picked, but they didn't tell me that so there were some issues. Over my back porch they used huge nails that went all the way through the porch roof. They did fix the nails but there are still holes in the ceiling. They left a huge mess in the attic and when I cleaned out the gutters I found hundreds of nails so they weren't the neatest. It should have been a two day job but it ended up taking 2 weeks. They did try really hard to make it work, so A for effort. The remodel their other division did for my home went wonderfully, the roofing was just the worst part.

We had utilized Intown Craftsmen for other work in our house and had been very satisfied, so when we found ourself in need of a new roof quickly, we contacted Russ at Intown Roofing. Our estimate was competitive (got two quotes, Intown was lower) and the work was able to start within a few days. Intown was also able to install a solar tube during the process, which was somewhat tricky due to its location within our tight attic space. We were very pleased with all of the work performed. The crew were fast (complete in one day), friendly and tidy. We didn’t find a single nail in our yard or our neighbors. The new roof looks great and has performed well. We would highly recommend Intown Roofing to our friends and neighbors.

Absolutely excellent! Russ Melton has been prompt and responsive each time I contacted him (for new work). The Craftsmen were punctual, skilled, conscientious and considerate. We had three basic "crews," one to do the porch decking and trim repair, one to do house painting, and one to do some exterior door stripping and staining. The work was more or less sequential. Each team arrived as promised and then kept up good, helpful communication with us throughout the course of the job. They made recommendations on materials and on approaches. They were concerned that we be completely satisfied with the final product.

Very well. One followup call for a minor detail which was quickly resolved.

If you are on the eastside of Atlanta, you really only have one choice for roofers. Not just professional and prompt, but genuinely friendly and understanding of our unusual needs for our roof. Among other things, they had to coordinate with Georgia Power to get the power shut off /turned on

Had a leaky roof and needed a repair pronto. Intown was at my home the morning after I called. The crew quickly discovered where the water was coming in-- it wasn't so obvious to me. They came up with an estimate just to re-roof the section of the house that was in immediate need. But they showed me other areas of the roof that were likely to fail in the not-too-distant future. I agreed that re-roofing the whole house made a lot more sense. The estimate seemed reasonable, and it turned out to be what I ended up paying. They were there early the next morning and had the job completed before I got home from work that evening. There was a small bit of trash leftover sitting next to the house. I figured I'd just give them a call to come pick it up. But someone quietly showed up and took it away before I remembered to call-- they hadn't forgotten. The work seems to be well done. I'd recommend Intown Craftsmen, and I'll call them for an estimate the next time I need some work done on my house.

We had two leaks in our roof that were "fixed" twice to no avail by other contractors. Intown Roofing (Russ) came out to give us an estimate and quoted us $650 to repair both leaks. It took us a couple of weeks to get something scheduled and service afterwards. A subcontractor came out to look at our roof and said it would be more complicated than originally thought. Russ called us back and said it would take 4+ hours to fix the roof and would cost $1200 due to the size of the job. It was double the original quote, but we needed it fixed by someone who knew what they were doing. The sub came back, fixed the roof in less than two hours, and did an excellent job. We called Russ to discuss price as he quoted us based on the size of the job and complexity, but the repair was finished in less than half the time expected. He would only knock off $100 and said the $1100 cost was due to all the materials. When the sub was at our house, he told us he had all the materials in his shop as leftovers. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the work that was done (haven't had a single issue since) but felt like we had to pay a very high price for it. We never felt clear on exactly what was causing the high price for the job since we were first told it was for labor and complexity and later told it was for materials. Overall, if you need quality work, I would recommend Intown Roofing. (Russ is very knowledgable and gave us a lot of advice on other repairs for our home when he gave our estimate.) However, I would request an itemized written estimate so that the cost is clear. 

Russ was great, he was very courteous, polite, and punctual! He found and explained the issue that I was having with a leak in my roof and advised me of what he would do if he were in my shoes. He didn't try to over-sell the repair or try and talk me into having any unnecessary work done. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and family and will use his services in the future. You can definitely trust him!

Russ Melton, of Intown Roofing, has always been my go-to guy for house repairs.  We had a major leak in the roof, but other roofers could not identify the cause, because the leak was not directly below the skylights. Russ sent his roofer up on the roof to identify the problem and showed me photos to verify. We already knew we needed a new roof, but this and a few other problems made us realize we couldn't wait, or we would get more water damage inside our house.

Russ was immensely prompt, helpful and patient, assisting me with choosing roof shingle and gutter colors to match our 1923 historic house. We were also installing a new 1,500 gallon cistern, so Russ met with our landscapers to coordinate the extra wide (6 inch instead of 4 inch) gutter system we needed to shunt the water to the cistern. Russ paid attention to the details that we were not even aware of, such as adding a barrier over the front entrance so that in a downpour, the rain would not  fall on us as we entered our front porch. We had a pressing need to get started because of the leaks, and Russ expedited the process, which really put our minds at ease. When the job was completed, I noticed a few roofing nails coming through under our eaves, and Russ sent his guy over to cut them off. One always worries with a roofing job about flat tires, since our driveway runs down the complete side of our house, but Intown Roofing did a fabulous job cleaning up the area. We found no residue nails or other supplies. Yes, I would definitely recommend Russ Melton and Intown Roofing for your roofing needs.

I can't recommend Intown Craftsmen more.  I live in a 1928 Dutch colonial in a historic district that desperately need a completely new roof.  I received multiple quotes but knew instantly that Intown was the right company for the job.  Their quote was not the cheapest but also wasn't the most expensive.  Intown was the only company that actually came to my house and met with me to go over what was needed and what I was looking for in a new roof.  All the rest were just drive-by's.  Even told me that I could get a few more years out of the existing roof!! Sure that doesn't happen too often.  These guys were honest, punctual and patient with my indecisiveness.  Choosing a new roof is not an easy task and Intown took the pain out of it.  Multiple ( and I mean multiple) samples were applied to get it just right.  These guys were professional, prompt and all around top notch.  Customer service and quality are awesome.  Dare I say it was a pleasure working with them.
