How did it go? To be frank, it's been a nightmare and I'm still dealing with the consequences of hiring these guys. No matter how low of a price they offer to do the job, please save yourself the headache and RUN AWAY! Taha signed a contract with me promising the renovation will be completed after 40 days. When that 40 days came by, not only was the renovation not even near complete, he took the $30k I gave him and went on vacation to Morocco for a month! His partner/boss Abdul Wahid was supposed to take over but he didn't really have a clue as to what was going on and nothing was done for the month Taha was on vacation. When he got back, another few weeks went by with nothing done. By this point, Taha was screening my calls and avoiding me. It got so frustrating that I hired an acquaintance of their, an architect who sends jobs their way, just to get in touch with them and find out what's going on. So that cost $500 just to find out what's going on and why the delay. They failed so many inspections. On some inspections, the inspectors literally wrote "stopping inspection, too many violations". Inspections were constantly being failed and they started lying to me about when inspectors would show up so they wouldn't have to tell me they failed again. Lying was a big problem with these folks. After 6 month late and although the house was not finished from inside and cleaned up from outside, they were able to get a Certificate of Occupancy. They spent a few more weeks trying to finish everything while we were living there until finally they just left one day, stopped taking my calls and never came back. I was left with a total mess. Outside they left broken glass, nails, bricks, garbage littered all over the place. I was appalled to find the garbage even hidden in bushes around the back and sides of my property. The lawn is not safe for anyone, especially children. The lawn was also destroyed; patches of grass are missing all over the place and the front yard is ruined from the ground they dug up to install a sewer line. They never put the dirt back level. The 800 sq ft addition required them to regrade the backyard which they did not do. Now every time it rains, the water comes into my carport bringing in a lot of mud. Inside the house, none of the walls are straight, every door and window was installed incorrectly, the subfloor was done horribly that you feel yourself going "up and down" as you walk around the house, and the entire new addition is not level. As a matter of fact, when I'm at my desk in the new addition, my chair rolls back from the desk. This is totally unacceptable. There are leaks in both bathrooms, unfinished areas around the house, things falling apart, the list goes on. I now have a lawyer and I'm taking them to court. I can't sell this house nor even rent it to anyone. I've had other contractors come by who wouldn't even fix the house because it was such a mess and they didn't want to get involved with it. One contractor quoted me $50k to just fix some of the damages but said it would never be perfect. For example, if we try to level the floors, the ceiling will crack. I have pictures and everything documented. None of this story is exaggerated. I'll be notifying the State Licensing Board and doing whatever I can to protect the community from these folks. BTW, both Taha and Abdul Wahid have arrest records for various things. Nobody wants to deal with criminals likes these folks. I've paid dearly using these folks and have learned the hard way. Don't fall into the same trap. Good luck.
