I provided Walter an understanding of my home, and I had isolated where the issue was in my home - master bed and bath and the basement bath which is below the master bath. He went over on his time to investigate and charged me $180 for the additional time. He did test without reviewing the additional pricing. He brought his grandson and charged me for his time. He charged me $1070 at the end of his investigation. He told me and my partner what needed to be done. Clean off the mold in the crawlspace and put it under negative pressure. I went above and beyond having the crawlspace remediated. Mold cleaned and removed, 10 mil vapor barrier installed, new high end dehumidifier, removed duct work and insulation, and installed all new. Installed a new HVAC system at the same time as the new duct work was installed. After all this, the issue still persisted. I contacted Walter on 7/19/11 to see what he advised. No response. I hired another reputable firm to investigate and assess my entire home at a cost of $655, and that included a written report. The problem is in my two bathrooms and the basement. I am in the process of remediating the mold identified in this report per hygenist's recommended protocol. I wrote Walter requesting he refund me $655 (the cost to have the second assessment). This would have not been necessary had he found it to begin with, especially seeing I directed him to this area initially. I got no response to my request. I am now also aware of other client situations where he was in error on his assessment of their situation. Not only has it cost me more money, I have had to be subjected to the mold issue longer, because his assessment was inaccurate and incomplete. He is overpriced and not a very good environmental air quality professional. The most frustrating part was his lack of responsiveness to the issues, which he was paid to help identify and direct resolution. He also failed to divulge that he is the president of the local chapter of IAQA. Maybe this is why his name shows up at the top of the list on their site. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I am filing a complaint with the IAQA.
