Penney Brothers Construction

This is the second time we have used Penney Brothers Construction and we are just as happy as the first time. The work was well done and done quickly, and they were very responsive to our needs. We got quotes both times and each time Penney Brothers offered a competitive price. We would not hesitate to use them again.

Kevin and his Team did an awesome job for us. We needed to have a couple of boards replaced on our chimney chase due to animal caused damaged. While working on that, they found some additional damage that we couldn't see from the ground. We had them fix that area too. They did a thorough job for us at a great price. We will definitely be contacting them again with any future siding/painting projects!

It went well. Kevin communicated well about the work to be conducted.

He did the work. I wish he would have covered areas better that he was working on because when he left it looked like a construction zone and a mess was left. He could have listened better to what we were asking for and did the work his way which was wiping and then dusted vs dusting then wiping which smudged the walls and dirtied the floors.

My. Kenny is a decent guy to work with. His workers were very professional. They did the job fast. There was small time delay, but it still was fast enough. All in all, it was a great service. I would recommend penny brothers.

Upon arrival and once he was inspecting, a (unsupervised) younger crew member tore almost a complete wall apart,where the rot was. They then came back and told me it was going to be much more than we had agreed to to get it fixed and he got very belligerent with me and starting making racial remarks such as, ''You could probably get some Mexicans to come do it for cheaper",and he was just rude, inappropriate and disrespectful not only to me but in general.  He continued to say some things to make me say to myself, you just need to get out of here.  Job was never finished so I had to hire another contractor to come out and finish the job.  Service provider believed that the taring down that was done, without really my permission, was covered by the coupon and them doing anything to repairing it was outside the scope of the coupon.   He was just a nasty character.  I hope I never see him again.  He was just very rude, very disrespectful, and arrogant.  He didn't want to negotiate with me and had me feel like what had happened was my fault and it really wasn't and they went ahead and tore this whole side of the building down and told me it was going to be so much more to fix it.  More than we had originally agreed to.  So I just told him that this wasn't going to happen and sent him on his marry way.

They started the job on one day and finished it the next. We had them do some additional work that what was not included in the details of the deal. It has been a while since they completed the job and it is hard to recall the details. They did come when they were supposed to and completed what we had expected of them. They did a fine job with the work.

I tried contacting them and it was hard to get ahold of them and then they finally told me they couldn’t do the work. I believe they were too busy.

They did a good job. They were responsive, professional and on time. Kevin to me is a very friendly, standup guy. He is pretty straightforward. He provided a couple of different options with some price points and results to choose from which was nice. He was easy to work with. If you need a handyman, they're reliable, consistent and knowledgeable. I would definitely use them again.

Professional,  On Time.  Clean.  Did a great job.    Had them back again to hang a ceiling fan  a few months later.  Good guys to work with.  They weren't the cheapest, but they did a great job and left my house cleaner than when they arrived.  Would use again.

Everything went very well.  The handymen were friendly.  They measured for what materials they would need, went to Home Depot to purchase materials (wood rod, wood for shelf) and installed a new closet rod and shelf.  Everything works great.

We have been looking for a handyman to do small, odd jobs around the house and saw this Big Deal offering six hours of handyman services from this "highly rated company" on Angie's List. It seemed like just the thing we were looking for so we bought it and made an appointment. They were flexible when we had to reschedule because something we ordered for one of the jobs was delayed in coming in, so that was good. The red flags started flying though when they called to confirm the appointment and to let us know that "three craftsmen" would be coming for two hours, and after those two hours were exceeded we would be charged an exorbitant hourly rate for any remaining work. When I told the caller that I didn't think I had enough work for three handymen he corrected me and said "craftsmen". Okay. The craftsmen arrived and proceeded to bumble around and argue about which job to do first. Only one, a younger one, seemed to be self directed and knowledgeable. He started working while the other two craftsmen told us that replacing the existing ceiling fan would take longer than two hours, though no electrical re-wiring was required, just switching out the fan. When we told them never mind, they changed their minds and decided they would be able to do it in two hours. As the two worked, they argued and one belittled the other continually. It it hadn't been so unprofessional it could have been a lightbulb joke-- "how many craftsmen does it take to..." At one point one of the two older guys went to their truck and took a lengthy break even though it was well past lunch time. They installed the fan within the two hours, though they left dark smudges and hand prints on the ceiling ("you can just paint over it"). The fan still works, but I'm not sure it was worth the money to do a couple of jobs. Their time would have been spent more efficiently if they had spent less time bickering and insulting each other, or if only one guy had come out instead of three. I would definitely not recommend them or use them again.

They were in the middle of the job and laying shoe mold.  There were only two simple pieces to lay down and left on the dot when time I was up.  It literally would have taken 5 minutes.  It was lazy.  The job they did was worth what I paid but if they wanted a new customer they could have stayed five more minutes.

I was very pleased with them. There were some other charges, but I was okay with that because it was for some additional work.

Things went okay with Penney Brothers Construction. I felt the laborer that were there could have been of better quality. There was one Penney Brothers employee and the other guy looked like they got him off the street. He wasn't the most helpful. So I don't feel like I got my money's worth for the six hours. But they did what they did within the six hours and I finished the rest. I was not really comfortable around the laborer and he did not know what he was doing. I don't feel they did as much as they could have done.

During the removal of  one of the tiles  the back board was damaged but the handyman was able to repair the hole and replace the tiles.  I grouted the tiles myself rather then have him make another trip. Everything looks great.

He didn't do what I bought the Big Deal for, but he did something else comparable. The Big Deal was for painting, but then he patched the roof. He was very prompt and very thorough. He said that what I wanted done would be more expensive, so we tried something else. He got the supplies, did a great job and he cleaned up his mess.

They use the Angie's discount offer to pull in customers for the equivalent of a "bait and switch" routine. I made the mistake of hiring them and they performed unprofessional, shoddy work.

They did fix the drywall and did paint over that section. Then they went and painted the entire room which I did not want. He was delayed and would come in at 10 or 10:30 in the morning and leave at 4:00pm. They stretched it out over three days and then said that it was $3,000 worth of work. I said, no it wasn't. I could of brought someone in to do drywall work and paid them $1,000 in cash and got the work done. It was horrible and he was always trying to get me to hire him for other things. And his prices were way out of line. I did bring him back for a couple of things and he didn't fit the sink and granite piece in correctly. And of course he stretched that out over two days as well. So I decided not to use him again.

.Penney Brothers Construction were really friendly. They were not on time but that was not relevant to me. They were great, very sociable and the did what they were contracted to do.

The work went a little slower than I expected and I did not like working with this company.
