Spray Foam and More

"Spraying foam is like filling up a baking pan with canned whipped cream. Yes as we state, there will be high and low spots, but the overall performance of the product is not affected by these minor variances. We “volunteered” to come back and provide a second coat to raise the overall thickness to well above the nominal average because we try to make each customer satisfied with our service. We applied a lot more product to this project than was quoted and required. To get an overall average one has to take hundreds of depth checks. For every low spot move over an inch and one will find many higher above average depths. Focusing just on low spots does not equal an overall average. As to comparing a liquid spray foamed product to a manufactured foam board product, that is apples to oranges. No liquid spray product that expands to 300% instantly will ever be as smooth as a manufactured board. If foam board were used then it becomes a slow labor intensive project to cut and fit every piece like a giant puzzle into all the nooks and crannies, which adds tremendously to the cost. The gaps around foam board [much worse than low spots] still need to be sealed with canned foam. In our opinion, if the labor to install blue board, which is a much slower process and the canned foamed costs are calculated in, the cost of blue board would be double that of spray foam.
