When I hired Woodman, I was told I would qualify for a rebate with Georgia Power for putting in the insulation. I have now been repeatedly following up about how to apply for the rebate, yet I cannot get anyone to give me an answer on how to do it. Apparently the rebate has to go through Woodman, so I cannot apply until Woodman fills out the proper paperwork. I was told the sales guy was supposed to contact me, but he hasn't. I left him a message and he hasn't called back. When I went to schedule the installation they were responsive, but now that they have my money, they do not seem to care to follow through on what they need to do for me to qualify for the rebate they used to sell me on using them. This is completely unacceptable and I would not use them again.
Woodman Insulation came out to do the installation, but did not bring all the materials needed to complete the job. I called the company and was told that the best they could do was to come out the next day. I very clearly, and repeatedly, communicated
that the next day was not acceptable as I had a City of Atlanta inspection for the insulation scheduled for the next day. I also clearly communicated that if Woodman did not complete the job that day per the agreement, I would have no choice but
to get the job completed using other resources.
That evening I repeatedly requested to speak with the owner but was denied access to him.
As Woodman did not complete the job, I purchased insulation from Home Depot and paid one of the contractors on-site to finish the job at 7pm.
Despite not having authorization to do so, Woodman charged my credit card for the full amount. They stated that they installed the amount that they were contracted to install, but that is clearly not the case as they did not finish the job. Instead of acknowledging their error, they accused me of having my job ?grow? since the estimate. As the house was renovated exactly according to my City of Atlanta permitted architectural plans, this accusation is unfounded.
I requested that Woodman apply a partial refund to cover my costs for the insulation and installation. They are refusing and have denied further requests to speak with the owner to try to get this issue resolved.
My review, which I will leave as written originally below, is a glowing review of Woodman Insulation. Sadly I had to come in two years later and change my overall review of the company. An inspection during the sale of our house revealed that the installers failed to follow state building codes when blowing in the insulation. They allowed the insulation to come in direct contact with the furnace ventilation. I have put in two calls to Greg at Woodman, and I have spoken to two other people in the office who refer me back to Greg. After more than 48 hours I gave up. I will correct their error myself so that I can proceed with the sale of my home.
Original Review
Getting the quote We needed additional insulation in our attic and we called 4 different companies. Woodman responded to our call for an estimate, scheduled, and conducted the estimate within 72 hours of our initial call. The gentleman that came out gave me a brief idea of what he felt needed done, took measurements, and left quickly stating we would have an estimate via email by morning. There was no sales presentation, and no pressure.
Later that evening we had an email with quotes for an upgrade for R30 and R38. We responded to the email asking for an additional quote for the R60. We had the R60 quote in under an hour. We had contacted 4 companies for quotes. Woodman's quote was the lowest quote of all of them by less than half the price of the highest and 600 dollars less than the closest quote. Schedule the appointment We were a little concerned about the low ball quote, but they have a good record here on Angie's List and a good score with the Better Business Bureau. We decided it was worth the savings to go with them.
I made a phone call and they scheduled the service for about four days latter. They gave us a large window from 11 am to 5 pm for an arrival time. About 2 pm I got a phone call stating they would arrive in a half hour. They did.
The work crew A work crew of two arrived. They didn't speak much English, but enough. They installed the baffles and recessed light guards and blew in the insulation. From start to finish it took about 1.5 hours. That was with breaks to cool down.
Their work They had us view their work prior to breaking down their equipment. All of our worries about whether they would install the baffles, and insulation correctly were unfounded. The job was beautifully done.
Clean up A little bit of insulation did find its way into the house. The worker attempted to clean it up, but it was evident they did not have the tools to clean it up. I pulled out the vacuum and the mess was cleaned up in under two minutes. What they could do to improve their service There wasn't anything damaged during the process, but there was not any measures taken to protect our floors or walls. I would have liked to have seen them put down something to protect the floors and the base boards where their hose went around corners. I would also have liked for them to have done the cleanup. But they were careful with the hose and they never dragged it across the floors or baseboards.
Final thoughts All said and done I couldn't be more pleased. The price was great. No they didn't have the polished presentation of their competition, but when it comes right down to it, the work is what counts. They did a great job and the next time I get a my hands on a few extra bucks I would like them to insulate my floors.
