Firstly, please don’t mistake this F review for the one posted Dec.29, 2020. We are different clients, though our experiences seemed similar. Hired to finish a basement and convert a deck to a screened porch in September 2020. Projects were supposed to run simultaneously with workers switching back and forth between outside and inside depending on weather. We just terminated the professional relationship Feb. 20th when the basement was close to being finished but the deck had not even been started except for demolition. We terminated because delays were unreasonable, and explanations were non-existent or suspect. Promised deadlines were not met numerous times and contractor seemed to feel he didn’t owe us a reliable timeline. The last straws were 1) a failure to give a firm start date on the deck 2) subcontractor asking to be paid by us directly. The day we terminated was supposed to be the end date of the basement project but still there were things unfinished including a new interior door leading to the basement which we had already paid for. When we mentioned this, Contractor offered to “get someone out there to install the door” later but we considered this another empty promise and didn’t wish there to be continued access to our home, so we declined. If the owner wants to show he is an honorable person and his company a reputable firm he will issue us a credit for that door….at this point that hasn’t happened and we’re not holding our breath. (If we receive a refund for the door I will post the update to this review).

Started in August 2020, continually delayed with excuse after excuse. Finally in December 2020 he admitted he'd run out of money. We are now in the process of having another contractor complete the job. We never did get our money back on what he did not complete.

Awfuquality of work and completely unreliable. After 6 months the job is still unfinished. There was no schedule, I had to follow up daily on if a crew was going to show up. There would be weeks at a time that no one would show up. He had excuse after excuse as to why his crew wouldn’t show up or why some thing didn’t get done. There are several issues that are costing us more money to get it fixed (broken siding, electrical, etc.). His contractors tore up the siding on my house I never fixed it. They left trash in our yard for five months making it on usable as there were nails and scrap metal and wood all over the place. I am happy to send pictures or show text and email threads of the endless excuses and lack of accountability. I am so unhappy with his project, When you spend over $25,000 on some thing you expect a different level of professionalism and quality of work. The whole process was an absolute nightmare, and now I’m stuck with an unfinished the porch that I now have to finish and fix that’s going to cost thousands of more dollars.

The facts_ Downpayment on the job, quoted at 2-3 weeks, made on Oct 30, 2019. Final payment for job "completion" (but not really) made on Feb. 10,2020...103 days later! I indicated not really, because final touch up paint work still not done (today is March 31, 2020). Cannot recommend this business. Many promises made, most broken. Clues should have been no logo on managers work vehicle and no website. Finally, workmanship is adequate, at best (attention to detail lacking)

"Mr [Member Name Removed]. I would like everyone to know a few things from our side. When we were asked to start, we did make you aware that the specific materials you wanted us to use were a special order, and at the time we were not aware how long it would take to order . You requested us to start anyway so we did. And it took time to have the materials. Would also like to say on our behalf of the special Border design took longer to do, we were not aware of this design until we started the project. We did not charge any extra for this, we went ahead and did what you wanted. When the job was almost complete, you stated you wanted the under deck work, joists, headers and posts painted. We did not have painting included in our Quote. We did the painting for you at no charge , hoping to make up for the time delay due to using a product that had to be ordered in for your job.. And after we painted all the joists and posts at our expense, it rained and did leave some streaks in the painting and hoping to make you happy, I did tell you we would come back if we needed to touch up any paint, and we will. I asked you to please tell me when your roofers were done, and we would then come out to do the touch ups. Then I hear from you that we missed 4 nice days, but weren't notified when the roofers were done. We were waiting to hear when they were done , then we could come back and touch up the painting that we needed to complete. So we agree your job did take much longer than it would have, if we could have waited to start until we had the materials. We will try to do better in that regard in the future. Thank You."

About 10 years ago we had a substantial front porch added to our home. At the time we were very pleased with the outcome. The floor boards are a composite material, (similar to Trex). For a while now we noticed that one of the floor boards closest to the faceplate had started bowing and warping. After the warping became significant enough to concern us we decided to engage a contractor to repair it. I reached out on Angie’s list and received several responses. Perfect. During the contractor selection process we quickly determined that the root cause of the bowing and warping of the floorboard was a symptom of a larger issue with the underlying porch frame. We selected StoneCrest Custom Homes for the following reasons, 1. Phil - He was our point of contact. A), He responded promptly with the quote. B), He, (always), answered his phone. C) He was flexible in scheduling the job. D), He visited the site several times a day, (We have Ring). He is a down to earth guy who says what he does and does what he says. A rarity. 2. StoneCrest Custom Homes Crew – I’m sure that in comparison our repair project wasn’t big, but his crew worked diligently and quickly to make the needed repairs. They were friendly and gave me confidence they knew what they were doing. 3. Flexible – As is the case with many home improvement/repair projects the scope of our project changed. We found that in order to get our porch back to a good place we needed to not make the same mistakes the original contractor made. StoneCrest Custom Homes was flexible and reasonable in accommodating the changes in scope. 4. Cost – We added scope to the project and the price was still reasonable. Would I use them again? Most assuredly. When we first reached out to engage a contractor we thought it would be a simple quick repair. Then we learned just how close the porch was to total collapse. Now we have confidence that our porch is structurally sound and we are looking forward to many years of continued enjoyment.

It was great. I was involved with the whole process. There were a few things that had to be fixed as soon as noticed and there was no reason for them to have to handle it one time. After I moved in there was no need for them to come back and fix anything! 172,000

Phil was fantastic. He showed up sometimes several times a day to make sure the project was on track. He removed our old pergola and installed a solid roof as well as built a stone fireplace. We love our new backyard retreat and would definitely use him again. He is a true craftsman!

The rear of our home faces the south so the hot summer days heated the house and also made it impossible to use the deck. I received several bids to extend the roof of the house over the deck and screen it in. Stonecrest Custom Homes came in less than the other bids and were the only company that listened to my needs and what I really wanted. The finished product had to affordable, functional and look as if it was original to the home. Also the company I hired had to be considerate of my neighbors and traffic flow in a tight community. Phil DeVries met with my wife and myself to understand exactly what I wanted. With his suggestions along with our requests we received exactly what we wanted at a price we could afford. The workers were great and the craftsmanship was second to none. The deck extension and stairs I had originally asked for them to have a redwood stain applied which later I changed to the light tan to match the rest of the house trim. The house on the south side is actually cooler in the summer and the screened porch usable and is an asset to our home.
