Hometime Remodeling

There was paint spatter on the dining room and living room floors and on windows as they did not use a drop cloth effectively. The light switch plates, outlet covers and heat register covers were not removed for painting. We ended up having to repaint where they did not sand over nail holes that we had filled for them.

There was a groove left in our wood floor where the refrigerator was dragged over the paper protection at start of demolition and although the line clearly went from where the refrigerator was to where it was stored, responsibility was denied.

Building materials could not be located during the project only to turn up when query was made.

Contrary to the contract, full payment was requested before the work was complete. Costs for change orders were not put in writing as we went along per the contract and were apparently flexible.

The first copy of the final invoice included an extra 4000 dollars because payments made by homeowners were not accurately credited. We were hurried to write the check for that payment before being allowed to review that bill. There was no apology offered for this error although obviously it had to be acknowledged.

We were accused of pushing deadlines and implementing too may changes when we asked for a week for granite rework from a separate vendor and two weeks for a light valance to be delivered but had to be patient with a gas leak lasting two weeks and recurrent electrical problems.

The owner complained to us about other customers, who we knew. We found out later we were the subject of similar complaints to others.

While we love our kitchen it is disappointing to have to subcontract and finish up a few a few things ourselves. Meanwhile Hometime demanded and received full payment.

We changed our locks at project end.
