We had immediate problems with drainage. Their initial grading of the land in our side yard caused a big mudslide into a detention pond. The slide destroyed some new fence. The land had to be regraded and replanted. The lawn had to be re-sodded. To their credit, they paid the cost of rework, including the cost of redoing the fence.  
Ten years on, we find that several of the big plants they recommended and installed are placed badly on our site. Specifically, three cryptomeria (Japanese cyprus trees) are now much too big for the site. I'm concerned their roots may threaten the pool walls. We're consulting an arborist to review our options. I'm afraid they may have to be cut down. I believe it'll cost close to $1,000 to remove them, plus their replacement cost. 
One of the trees they planted, a yaupon holly, had to be removed because it never thrived. Our current landscape-maintenance company said it appears to have been installed incorrectly, causing poor root drainage.
A snowball viburnum they installed is too big for its site. Its roots threaten the hardscaping around it, so we had to cut it back to almost nothing. 
A Japanese maple they installed had to be transplanted to another location for esthetic reasons.
They seem not to have planned for plant growth.  
In their defense, several of the other trees they suggested and installed are thriving and look beautiful. We get a lot of compliments on the area around our pool. But I give them a weak rating overall because they made some big misjudgments that will be expensive and troublesome  for us to fix.
