Well they've changed their name to Cheeky and moved their location, but still the same company just with a huge drop in ethical business practices. Not sure if it will make it, but here's my recent experience: Rule #1: Never buy a new HVAC system without getting a ‘second opinion’, no matter how hot or cold you are – ESPECIALLY if you’re working with Cheeky/DC Cheek Heating Cooling and Plumbing. We hired Cheeky to replace ‘system #1’ with a 3 Ton/15.2 SEER heat pump for $12500 in July 2024. The price was high, but we 'rationalized’ that this was not a ‘box swap’ but a full install, with new plenums, drainage, breaker and wifi thermostats – and, just as important, they could do the work NEXT BUSINESS DAY. They installed the wrong equipment but took care of that once I brought it to their attention. We didn’t learn how bad our mistake was until two months later when system #2 mysteriously went out, after Cheeky had done a service on the unit and pronounced it ‘older but operational’. We asked Cheeky to quote an identical system install in October 2024. That quote was $8000 all in – or $4200/56% less than it was in July! Cheeky’s sales guy’s response to our claims of price-gouging and seasonal surge pricing was to confirm that ‘systems cost less in the fall, more in the summer, and we make most of our annual revenue in 3 months of the year’ – hardly an adequate explanation and I doubt the manufacturer charges them more in July! If we needed further proof of our mistake hiring Cheeky, our 'second opinion' price on the #2 unit was another 5% lower that the $8000 Cheeky quote for superior equipment and the same new components - and our contractor assured us it would've been the same price in July! I asked Cheeky to negotiate a settlement and received an immediate response from the General Manager to set up a phone call, but after a month, I’ve never heard back from her. Don’t make the same mistake we did!

They're excellent. They've serviced our HVAC systems in our house for several years and they've installed new ones as well. They come out couple of times a year. It was included under my warranty because I had purchased the A/C and furnace from them. They're the best, very nice, very friendly and very courteous. I would recommend a friend to DC Cheek. I wish they provided service areas up in the Georgia mountains so I could use them up there too.

Nick showed up at 0800 like he was supposed to. Nick asked what the problem was and who had provided prior service. He also asked why I chose DC Cheek to perform this service. I answered his questions and told him that DC Cheek was so highly recommended by both Angie's List and won the Best of Forsyth the last two years running(at least) for HVAC folks.Nick went to work, diagnosed the problem, gave me several options for repairs and service. I made my choice to stay with DC Cheek for at least the next five years. Nick fixed the furnace and the gas line running to that furnace that I did know was even a problem.
Nick was professional, knowledable and a great representative for DC Cheek. In fact such to those points that I called DC Cheek to let them know.
You want the BEST, you may pay alittle extra but you get the BEST. DC CHEEK

Never heard from him nor was there any offer to reimburse me for the part they charged me for but did not install. I consider them to be very unethical and would never consider using them again.

The thermostat on the main floor of my home quite controlling my A/C so I replaced it and that did not fix my problem so I looked for a local company to investigate further and replace the furnace ignition on a different unit.
Looked up DC Cheek but there was not much info. They are very close to my home and I really wanted to establish a relationship with someone local to my new home so i gave these guys a try.
The Customer Service person was totally on the ball and got me an appointment with a service guy right away. She also offered me me their and quot;VIPand quot; maintenance program that would include the price service call and provide a 15% discount on parts plus do the routine maintenance and would qualify me a credit on my power bill from the local power Co-op. This all sounded like a fair deal so i signed up for the program.
The service guy arrived the same day and diagnosed my thermostat problem as failed wiring and also informed me that my fan motor was shot. He gave me estimates for four different options ranging from just the VIP service to replacing the the fan motor, replacing the wire from the thermostat to the unit, replacing the furnace ignition in one of the other units and a couple other items that didn't seem necessary. The prices ranged from about $320 for the VIP service to about $1500. I noticed that his estimates where not itemized to include the price of the parts but where broken out by individual jobs. Unfortunately, i was rushing in between confrence calls and didn't drill down on the lack of itemization and signed up for the work I knew needed to be done all for a price including the maintenance for about $1300.00. This seemed a little high but I went for it.
The service guy informed me that they would have to schedule for another day and requested payment for everything up front. I was only willing to pay for the maintenance program in advance which was a good call since he didn't let anyone at the office know to schedule the rest of the work.
I didn't hear back from the company that day so I called the next morning ad was informed by the Customer Service person that she had no idea that there was more work to be done. She was able to move the schedule around a bit and sent the same service guy back about an hour after I called.
The service came back with another guy so they could pull the wire and they got that done on about 10 minutes and the second guy left and the first guy was done in about an hour but said he was not the maintenance guy and that would be a separate call. He collected $1000 and took off. It seemed like maybe a thousand bucks for one hour of work and not many parts was not such a great deal but I let it slide since he did what he said he was going to do and I signed up for it.
The next day the maintenance guy showed up to do his work and part way through that he informed me that one of my condensation pumps was near failure and that he had one on his truck that he could install for $250.00. I was in my office and on-line when he informed me about this so I did a quick Google search for the pump and found that the most expensive pump listed was about $57.00. I told the guy what I found and he said his pump was different and showed me his $250 pump. What he had on his truck was a Diversitech ClearVu pump that I looked up on Amazon and bought for $47.00 and will install my self.
I feel pretty worked over on everything from DC Cheek now that i know they are willing to charge 5X the fair market value for parts. I contacted the Customer Service person and asked her to forward my concern to a manager to see if they where willing to do anything to adjust my bill. She got back to me yesterday morning and let me know that I would hear from one of the owners that day but no call and no e-mail.
There are a bunch of other service providers in the area and I will find someone else to work with in the future and will be much more vigilant in reviewing estimates and asking questions about them and all the costs associated with them.
My bad this time, shame on me but not again.
