We have been going to NEVH for many years and it has been a wonderful pet hospital. Recently the practice was purchased by Drs.Doug and Cecily Nieh. Without a doubt the care, price and quality of care administered by these two unbelievably talented veterinarians is excellent! We took our "Daisy" a 13 1/2 year old Newfoundland mix dog to them about three months ago. She was severely ill and suffering from dehydration and diarhhea. She lost over 15 pounds because she wasn't eating. We actually thought it was the end for her, but Dr. Cecily said we could try some things and see how it worked. After she tested "Daisy" for several ailments she diagnosed her with kidney problems related to Cushings Disease. "Daisy" stayed for two nights to receive IV infusions of fluid, in addition to medication. She was still not eating but her symptoms seemed to subside. We took her home because we felt she would do better in her own surrounding. Dr. Cecily agreed and loaned us an IV pump to continue with the IV fluid for the next three days. Under the daily guidance of Dr. Cecily, we administered medication, fluid and changed her to food that supports kidney function. We took Daisy back after the IV infusion was complete and they removed the catheter. (My daughter is an RN so this type of care was possible, not sure if a non medical person could do the IV at home procedure). Dr. Cecily prescribed subcutaneous fluid three times a week so "Daisy" wouldn't get dehydrated again. This is something a non professional can be trained to do, and I understand that quite a few pet owners keep their pets, with kidney disease, hydrated with. It took a few weeks but as time passed "Daisy" rallied and today she has regained some of her weight, is eating and drinking without coaching, goes outside to play with her housemates and has resumed her pre-illness personality. I can't tell you how grateful we are that Dr. Cecily did not give up on "Daisy". I have been recently widowed and "Daisy" is my best friend, we rescued her at 10 days old, bottle fed her and she is part of my family. I could not have stood losing her if there was any hope of keeping her with us a bit longer. We have 7 rescue dogs and have had pets who were suffering and ready to go, I did not believe that it was "Daisy's" time and if Dr. Cecily wasn't such a compassionate, talented doctor "Daisy" would have been euthanized. I can't tell you how grateful we are to Dr. Doug and Dr. Cecily Nieh for their talent, compassion and genuine care for the pets they treat and their owners.

Dr. Pam Milligan is a true professional. She examined my dog discussed the possible causes of his limp and the diagnostic procedures necessary to confirm. X-Rays were taken and Dr. Milligan explained the results and treatment options. She was thorough and answered all my questions. The staff were friendly and professional. Pricing is reasonable for the area.

We thought our four year old miniature dachshund had a minor stomach upset when she threw up once and had an episode of diarrhea on a Thursday evening. We called Northeast Veterinary Hospital the next morning when she had another loose stool and got an appointment for an hour or two later. Once I got there, she declined rapidly over the next hour and half becoming cool to the touch and very lethargic. Ultimately, she was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastric enteritis - a condition that quite often is fatal if not treated in 24 hours.
I credit one of the new owners, Dr Doug Neih's fast and expert care with saving my dog's life. All the staff were very caring and compassionate to both me and my pet. Even after repeatedly saying I did not care what the care costed, they gave me multiple discounts. I've since had the pleasure of consulting with Dr Cecily Neih over the phone regarding my cat and was similarly pleased.
We had plans to go on vacation for two weeks later and boarding our dog with them for the week we were out of town to ensure her continued recovery. It was more economical than places we've used in the past. There was no problem with feeding special food from home or letting her have favorite chew things and blankets. We called daily to check on her and they were so patient with giving us updates.
They are now open 7 DAYS A WEEK! Saturday hours are extended to 1PM and they are open Sundays between 1PM and 5PM. They also now have a Vet available by phone after regular hours.
I will definitely continue to take my pets here! These folks REALLY ROCK. If you love your pets, this is the place to go!

All in all, it was an average "vet experience;" nothing spectacular, but nothing at all bad either. My only "gripes" are that they charged an office visit for EACH puppy EVERY time they had an appointment for shots, and they charged $50 for each health certificate that was required by the shelter. I have always only paid one office visit charge if I brought multiple pets to a vet--it added $100 to every visit which was h****** my wallet! Also, the $150 for health certificates is crazy expensive--other vets I have spoken to since say $10 each is about right.
Response from NORTHEAST VETERINARY HOSPITAL
"Hey [removed member name], As you know, the Northeast Veterinary Hospital is now under new ownership (since Dec 2013) and our goal is to provide an exceptional experience for all of our clients. Even though this review was written when the hospital was under the ownership of Dr. Linda Brooks (now retired), I still felt obliged to chime in. Veterinary care can definitely be financially exhausting these days. We strive to keep our prices competitive and in-line with other veterinary hospitals and a recent survey showed that our prices are on average cheaper than other hospitals in NE Georgia. The health certificate estimate you received from other veterinarians was likely $10 plus the cost of a basic exam which they excluded from the quote (a common bait and switch tactic similar to calling about the cost of a spay or neuter and then being told one price but upon arrival, discover that the price didn't include pre-anesthetic bloodwork, pain medications, etc). If you tease out the cost of the exam, the cost of each health certificate was actually $6.80. Hope that clarifies things a little bit! - Dr. Doug"

The visit went extremely well, the staff at NEVH is extremely knowledgeable and up to date on all veterinary procedures, latest drug treatments and nutrition. We have been taking our pets to NEVH since we moved to NE Georgia in 2008 and would never go anywhere else. They are wonderful. Anyone who has a pet problem that they are having trouble resolving, try NEVH you won't go anywhere else!
